Good news Chelsea fans! Remember that youth star who played for Chelsea in the pre-season to only turn out to be a trialist in the end? Well know he's officialy signed according to the Chelsea FC official website.

Here is some videos of Traore in pre-season to jog our memories of how talented he could be:

why do chelsea always buy youth players and rarely use them? im not against it, youth players are great but chelsea barely use them. ill name a few piazon, van ginkel, de bruyne and now traore i can name dizens more but its too much. and most likely these players are sent on season long loans or either sold.

Well let me ask you this:

Youth players are meant to develop into successful footballers who can become starters for their mother club or become successful somewhere else right? But that takes time. So do you really expect us to play the likes of Traore (18) and Piazon (19) over Willian (25) or Hazard (23)?

By the way, Van Ginkel was becoming a starter for Chelsea and then was out for the rest of the season and De Bruyne was given many chances already but was poor or average at best.

I mean like why dont they start games for caputal cup? When i saw chelsea in the capital cup this season all i saw was many first team bench players or some first team guys. why not give a start for some youth instead of the proven players?

When the opposition was small we did play the likes of De Bruyne, Kalas, or Van Ginkel. But we're not going to go against Arsenal and Sunderland with two or three 18-20 year olds on the pitch. I'm sure the same was with you in the C1C. I didn't recognize any youth players during your C1C matches either. I'm sure when the opposition is small we'll play lesser experienced players and put 16 year olds on the bench like we did against Swindon Town, but we wont always be lucky with our cup draws ;)

Besides, it's much better to loan them and let them play every week instead of playing them every month in a silly C1C versus an npower League 1 team.

Its not like they are investing 100M on scouting, and they already find good youngsters for the future...
Lukaku and Courtois are the best example, letting them on loan makes them grow and have a name, if Chelsea dont use them they could be sold for a big amount of money.
Despite forming good youngsters, Chelseas scouting are one of the best in Europe.

@Vendetta, I think @Kirkos actual question was why with so much investment in the youth team, Chelsea have no recent players that have come through the ranks? I mean besides Bertrand and JT, who else came through the academy that is now playing first team football. The easy answer is that those players are not good enough, but the true answer is that Chelsea are not patient. I mean Chelsea could definitely do well now with someone like Nemanja Matic who was never given a proper opportunity in the midfield. Even former Chelsea director Frank Arnesen said that the youngsters weren't given a chance due to Abramovich's desire for instant success. But there seems to have been a shift because Chelsea are now spending the big bucks on the likes of Mata, Hazard and Oscar who are relatively younger than the likes of Shevchenko, Ballack, Deco or other older players that the used to buy.

Kakuta is back to Chelsea...

@tiki: Exactly. When Chelsea scout a youth star and sign him, no matter the position, non-Chelsea fans think it's a waste and ask why are we signing this guy or that guy when we have player x. That's not how it works all the time. Sometimes players are signed to simply grow as players, make our club a profit, make a name for themselves, and improve our youth academy. We also send them out on loan for them to play every week and develop instead of play in a youth team or rot in the reserves/bench. If they don't make it in European football then they were never good enough.

By the way, Hutchinson is also back to Chelsea. Both him and Kakuta will probably get sold now.

He's been loaned to Vitesse, meaning he'll meet up with Atsu, Piazon, and PVA.

I love how direct and confident he is with the ball. Not taking too many touches, not trying to be overly fancy; he just seems to know where he wants to put the ball, and does it with (mostly) only one or two touches.

Let's see how he pans out.

Traore got his first assist for Vitesse today (on his debut), and what an amazing assist it was.
