i dont think this date was planned for a long time fh but a recent decision. obviously if they planned for long time and they reached CL final they would postpone the friendly. i agree its terrible timing and disrespectful to the CL. imo it is a deliberate ploy by the two plastic clubs to say lets play each other on the date of the CL final to say to up yours to uefa 'we are bigger than you'. this is my opinions
yes Ajax, you would think so but I heard about this when Chelsea was still in the group stages! Also, doesn't sound smart if you're trying to draw a crowd and gain fans that you schedule your friendly on the day of the Champions League FINAL. Retards.
yes i agree something odd and underhand here. certainly with cunning characters like ron gorlay and bruce buck close to the chelsea president there upto something sly
@Ajax: I usually agree with some of your opinions but here your just going full retard in this thread. On the other hand though, yes this is a horrible decision by the board.
look im not saying there is something 'evil' going on vendetta but this date is not poor planning. how could it be? it is clearly be done deliberately by these two clubs. the two clubs who are clearly targeted most by uefa's baby ffp which is just starting to take hold. they are sending a message to uefa 'we are bigger than you' and a reminder of rumours of breakaway european leagues etc...
You have a huge imagination. Imagination isn't a bad thing, too much imagination though will lead you to trouble.
And what of the blind..... :)

NYC= city of money. Fits well for them.
Because you guys don't use money to your advantage. -_-
Yeah but rmcf like mufc is a beast of a club with gigantic revenue streams that they have worked tirelessly for decades to create
...by hogging TV rights... O:)
Sure that's true lodatz like the selling of the training ground trick ;) more easy to 'digest' from a club that means so much to football with remarkable history and traditions tho imo
And that is why I say Chelsea must buy a new stadium D: Don't get me wrong, I love the Bridge, but those shareholders need to sell their piece of land to the club. Or we could always upgrade Stamford Bridge :o
"Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce we will end our season with a second friendly fixture against Manchester City in New York on Saturday, May 25.
The match, which kicks off at 5.30pm local time, sees us return to Yankee Stadium, which hosted its first ever football game when we played Paris Saint-Germain during our Here to Play, Here to Stay tour of America last summer."
May 25th also happens to be the date of the Champs League Final, so perhaps there will be a screening or something before the match....
