NOT MY WRITING. I COPIED AND PASTED.

I suggest you check out the website. It explains fully WHY each player is on the list and WHO could replace or rival them in that position. Now, without further ado, let's begin. ;)

Iker Casillas

Carles Puyol

Paolo Maldini

Alessandro Nesta

Roy Keane

Clarence Seedorf

Zinedine Zidane

Xavi Hernandez

Lionel Messi

Raul Gonzalez

Cristiano Ronaldo

I think there are a couple of issue. Firstly, how Cafu doesn't get in the back line I do not know, and second...

... I don't think Ronaldo deserves to be there. >.<

I know that's going to ruffle some feathers, but, really, in the CL, he's not been that successful. I think someone like Shevchenko is more deserving.

But, there you have it.

@Lodatz maybe because the formation he use 3-4-3 formation which is no fullbacks. Im gonna agree with you there Ronaldo shouldnt be on the list im gonan give it to Shevchenko or Van Nistelrooy

Do you think Claude Makelele should be the Defensive mid instead of Roy Keane? Makelele owned the defensive midfield some pundits even name the position to Claude Makelele because he was beast.

@ MRarsenal

You mean the true legend Ronaldo? Cristiano is not close to the Brasilian I'm sorry. The sad thing is as much as you think, it isn't even up for debate. What this man has done on the international level and European level crushes Cristiano's career to the ground.

@tdot

Ronaldo only beats Cristiano on international level mate. Cristiano is still extremely successful on club level, and you Barcelona fans can get out with your Real Madrid hatred and go post it somewhere else, please and thank you.

As for Ronaldo being on the list, CHECK THE WEBSITE GUYS.
This is what it says.

It picked ONE deep-lying forward (Messi).
It picked ONE central striker (Raul)
And ONE winger (C. Ronaldo).

In the CL, only five players have scored more goals than C. Ronaldo. Henry (51), Shevchenko (59), and RVN (60) are all CENTRAL STRIKERS, and Raul (71) beat them to the spot in this lineup. And as for Messi (59), he makes this lineup as a deep-lying forward. All we need is a WINGER. C. Ronaldo has been the best winger in CL history, and he's won the CL with United in 2008, reached the finals in 2009, and has reached the semis with Real in the last three seasons. THAT'S why C. Ronaldo is on the lineup and not Ronaldo El Fenomeno.

These are the players they mentioned BARELY missed out on the lineup.

Casillas - Kahn, Buffon
Puyol (as a wing-back who can also play CB) - Hierro, Stam
Maldini (as a LB) - Roberto Carlos
Nesta (as a pure CB) - Terry, Vidic, Pique
Keane (as a powerful midfielder) - Schweinsteiger, Edgar Davids
Seedorf (as a versatile midfielder) - Mendieta, Gerrard
Zidane (as an all-rounded midfielder) - Figo
Xavi (as a straight-forward playmaker) - Pirlo, Iniesta
Messi (as Messi) - None ;)
Raul (as a central striker) - Henry, RVN
C. Ronaldo (as a winger who is also comfortable as a striker) - Ronaldinho, Del Piero
