We got a pretty good draw. Aston Villa got a really good draw, they should be making it to the next round.

This new format is much better as you play more teams instead of the same 3 teams twice. As a result, the winner of this new UCL format will truly be the best team in Europe.

Imagine playing your fist Champion League season ever and you get to play Real at home and Barca at Camp Nou, this must feel amazing for Brest.

I predict Liverpool match to be very entertaining with the team they gotta face.

Overall, despite the new format, I'm really excited for this, the level of most of those games should be really good.

Damn Gyokeres hatrick against city. His first goal was against the run of play it was all city until he scored.

I believe Amorim has made a big mistake leaving Sporting when they are this strong with the most in form striker in Europe. They had a chance to challenge for the UCL title.

AC Milan made easy work of Madrid it's time for Ancelotti to leave again he's had a poor season. I want Ancelotti at Arsenal.

Liverpool top of the league and champions league with a new manager they destroyed Bayer Leverkusen.

It certainly a bit dissapointin to see Amorim leave when Sporting are doing so well. Guess he was worried the train wouldn't return. For sure he will need time to build something similar to this Sporting team.

I think we forget just how crazy regular this Real team been, to start thinking the kind of results would be reason to sack a coach who won them already CL since he was gone. Honestly, I kinda wish they sacked Anceloti, but its because I want to see other team than Real win the CL. Would be surprised if it happened though, seem to me Florentino Perez got wiser in recent year.

And yeah, impressed with Slot Liverpool, they just been amazing since the start of the season, can't fault them with much. I wonder if they will keep perfect record in the CL.

Why? Every game is valuable now which makes it entertaining watching both teams playing for a win. Whereas in the previous format teams would be happy with draws as that was enough for them to qualify. The previous format was boring until the KO stages.

@Footy_watch Even though it might be true, I'm also having a bit difficulty liking this format. Let's wait for the standings until the KO rounds.

If it's true that the group stages matches are more exciting then that means you are in favour of this new format as that's the only difference.

It's interesting to see how the best teams measure against eachother.

Real Madrid being in the last play off qualification spot with only 3 games remaining is a major drop off from last season and shows they need to make big changes.

Liverpool have been the best team this season in all competitions despite having a new manager.

I was shocked we demolished sporting yesterday night our best performance this season. We would've beaten any team playing like that. It feels like we are in that same high goalscoring form like last season after dubai.

@Footy_watch Feel like Odegaard is one of the most important facter for Arsenal. Him being on the field and in form really change the whole dynamic.

City performance against PSV was embarassing, never seen them in such a bad form in recent years, honestly, its feel crazy to watch.

Liverpool feel just too strong, they were a bit lucky against Real though, M'bappe honestly shouldn't take the pen for Real, he obviously not in it mentally and mentality is the most important attribute for penalty.

We can tell the teams who will directly qualify for the next round except for the 7th or 8th spot which are up for grabs. But I think the following 8 teams will directly qualify:

Liverpool
Leverkusen
Aston Villa
Arsenal
Barcelona
Inter Milan
Brest
Bayern Munich

I was one of the few who correctly predicted that Villa would be part of the top 8 when the draw was revealed. They've still done a bit better than I expected though.

The surprising team is Brest, first time in Europe and they are in the top 8 with a manager who was in jail for over 10yrs, Incredible is an understatement.

That PSG vs Liverpool game... wow, what a game by Alisson, maybe one of the best goalkeeper performance I see in the last 5 years? Honestly, Liverpool didn't deserve to win considering how well PSG played but Alisson totally changed the whold thing around. He was even involved on Liverpool only goal. What a match by him.

Anyway, good couple of game for round of sixtheen, some legs sadly seem to be already done. Arsenal, Bayern, Inter and Aston Villa are propably all through already unless of some big historical comeback by their opponent.

Other than that Liverpool and Barca has taken a good advantage in their respective legs as they need only a draw or better at their home ground to get through.

Finally, slight advantage for Real as they got the 1 goal lead at home and also for Lille as they managed to draw in germany and will play the deciding game at home.

If all the team who won in the first leg got through (which I think is quite propably for some of those team) we'd get:
Arsenal vs Real and Liverpool vs Aston Villa on one side of the bracket
and Barca vs BVB/Lille and Bayern vs Inter on the other.

I don't know for your guys but that sound quite good to me. Especially for the potential semis we could get.

Nice game again today between Pool and PSG. I feel the better team got through when looking at both legs.

Next round will be fun fun fun......

Mixed feelings about PSG beating Liverpool, on one hand, people that know me, know that i alway had a soft spot for PSG in the CL so I'm happy they are through and I honestly think they deserved it overall but on another hand, I'm kinda sad for Mohamed Salah who propably could have gotten his hand on the ballon d'or in the case of a good CL campaign.

Still think its a fair results considering the quality of the occassion created by PSG.

As for the other results, no surprise to see Bayern and Inter through but good for them, their games should be quite good to watch.

Wonder if Baraca are favorite to win it all now.

All the angles and replays they showed us did NOT have two touches, but of course, VAR has like 25 more cameras we are not privy to. Taking a lot of PK's myself and slipping on a few, I can see the shooting foot hitting the ball onto the sliding plant foot, but just not in any replay angle they showed on TV.

Really tough break on Alvarez. Make no mistake though, his PK was not what caused them to drop out. Llorente's miss and a bit of luck with Rudiger was the difference.

Real Madrid just own the CL! Maybe Arsenal will give them more fits?

🤣 that doesn't stop ligue 1 from being a farmers league.

Barcelona were never favorites to win the UCL-they concede too many goals, and Inter will stop them. Inter has the best defense in the competition, conceding only two goals in 10 games. That said, I'm intrigued by the possibility of an Arsenal vs. Barcelona final again and the chance for revenge. No one seems to be talking about it, probably because our chances of reaching the final are slim, but it would be incredible. And if it happens, I think we'd be the favorites.

Actually, it not a bad thing for Arsenal to advance without making too much noise, those kind of team can surprise players who aren't taking them seriously enough. I think the main reason its hard to favor Arsenal over Real though is that they got reputation that goes in different direction. Real Madrid build their reputation on being able to win game they would be expected to lose while Arsenal failure to beat opponent with a better european record than themselve have made it harder to expect them to beat other big teams in the CL. Honestly, if they managed to beat Real in the quarter, I think a lot of people would look at them differently.
