Well, Godin this year is unstoppable. He scores a header each time his team needs him, the red card of Marchisio ruined the game for Italy, thats Football.

I would have loved to see an attacking 4-3-3 instead of Juve 3-5-2, it could have worked if there was no Godin.

Thats Football, Europeen teams seems very short physically compared to America teams, we could assist to a Copa libertadores quarters if things go like this.

Balotelli let everyone down. Prandelli's trust in him didn't pay off in the end. All he ever had was that one good game against Germany in the Euro and the 1st game in this WC against England. He's so hit and miss. All the talent that he's capable of is not connected with his brain. His actions today were really pathetic, he just looked like a spoiled overgrown child out there. You'd think with the importance of the game he'll try and stay out of trouble and try and prove something after that awful display against Costa Rica. No, Balotelli is going to do whatever Balotelli does without any regard of his team. A complete liability. He should be ashamed of himself. That's why I was glad Inter sold him when we did. The kid never learns. He is responsible for this loss.
I was very impressed with Verratti. Italy have a brilliant young player in him. With Pirlo retiring they need not worry.

Time for an Italian transition, i think if Italians tried to play in the second half they would have scored a goal...
Godin was in the Italian box from 70th min until the goal, many spaces were left and Prandelli should have brought a counter attacking player....

Turn the page, and prepare for 2016...

I think he did the right thing. Because before the red card any of the players didn't even had a position but after the red card, Italy played more offensive. Then I have to ask that "why don't you play faster, do you wait for a goal or a position which changes the game(like red card)"
Not just for this match, Italy can't change the games speed as they wanted and all the players are looking for a pass from Pirlo to have a position. So I think, he didn't suit Italy's game play and he did the best thing by taking responsibility

@Tiki, i've read your comment in the highlights, your match considerations are wrong. Emrecan, you're wrong too.

We were in complete control of the game. the only mistake it was made was to rely on certain players and to play for the draw. that's it. we had full control over the game and its tempo. take a MF away and presto, you took away our strong point: midfield dominance.

also, Hodgson should do the same for England, but he hasn't got the balls.

Quote from highlight section : tiki, you are wrong. that wasn't catenaccio. i know you're happy we're out, but fly down with the BS.

What is this Shpalman ? Why should i be happy ? Im not like you hating a team because they beaten us 8 years ago....
I actually was sad for Pirlo, stay calm next time and act like a mod should act, the reason why i didnt nominate my self.....

Catennacio for me isnt just parking the bus, its also controlling the ball and attacking but keeping number in the back, the formation looked like Juve one, and yes you were right to not give space to Uruguay they dont know how to build up against a defensive team, they rely on counters and space.

You lacked speed in excecution and a counter attacking player, i was very neutral but sad for Pirlo and Happy for Godin....

hey, don't try to use these cheap tricks with me, you know it won't work. saying we played Catenaccio = BS.
We played possession football, it's that simple. your post should be edited, but i'm leaving it in there for others to read. i am very calm, i just can't read BS ;)

quote Tiki:"Why should i be happy?"

because Godin scored, am i right? that's fine, anyone knows you are a great Liga supporter. however, like i wrote in the highlights, i'd prefer to see the sheer brilliance of Pirlo and Verratti going thru, and not a violent bunch of individuals who played a mediocre football anyway. Italy didn't do good, we had serious problems finalizing, but they all know that if we pass the group stages we become a vacant bomb able to win the title VS any team. it's just Italy, you know that.

note: again, your little gimmick won't work, it's better you keep going pretending to be nice, that's much better instead of trying to lecture me on how to do my job.

You could have said same thing about Spain but you didnt anyway, Italy lost move on. And for Godin, he scored the goal who took the Liga title from us, and against RM in the final of CL.
So i was happy for him to write History again, i think i have the right.

Edit : Your job ? LOL. Dont take yourself seriously, anyway nice day i have better to do and a national team to support.
And im not nice, im just ME.

@Wolfie: To be honest, that's what I thought about him after his time at City. He just didn't give a shit, and his occasional moments of brilliance were just not enough to make him worth it.

Italy didn't deserve it. They came out to play for a simple draw and pass on like that. You could see it from the way they shaped and the lack of intensity. The red card was fair, reckless tackle studs up. If Suarez had gotten a red Chiellini should have been sent off as well for reacting and elbowing Suarez. Italy had 9 shots and 1 on target (stats by whoscored) so there is the real problem.

@Lod- Balotelli will never grow up. You simply can't trust the guy.
@raim- I disagree. Italy went out there to play. Verratti playing behind Pirlo so he could have more creative freedom would be a indicator. Also, Immobile a pure 9 behind Balotelli for more attacking options. They certainly didn't go there to draw. If so they would have gone with Motta and Cassano. Balotelli lost his discipline and got a silly yellow. With his history Prandelli wasn't going to take any chances of going down to 10 men so had to sub him off at half time. A substitution which was not meant to take place. But because of Balotelli's stupidity it had to be made. Marchsio ended up getting sent off so in the end it really didn't change the negative impact Balotelli created.

@Wolfie
if we look at the system and the players yes, it looks like we went to play. but what play does actually mean? for some people play means to attack and look for the goal, for Italy to play it means to "control" and then eventually score. the "eventually score" part never came as our two FWs were not in a good day sadly, and then all the rest happened. losing Balo was a big blow, but even bigger blow was losing Verratti, who had to go out injuried due to all the fouls he took. Uruguayans stamped his toes to death at every chance.

to those who say it was a nasty match, and Italians have something to do with it provoking their opponents... maybe some of you lost the moment when Suarez was insulting Pirlo after fouling him. they played dirty for the whole 90, and that's on them. Italians are fair when facing a fair opponent. look at ENG-ITA, perhaps the cleanest match of the whole WC.

@Raimondo
how come, Italy didn't deserve it and Uruguay did? if Suarez would have been sent off, then we would be 10vs10 since Chiellini's move was totally a natural, instinctive reaction. you know, stuff you do when you got a bat sucking blood on your shoulder. i don't know you, but i'd react that same way.

@shpalman:

"Italians are fair when facing a fair opponent. look at ENG-ITA, perhaps the cleanest match of the whole WC. "

That's actually a very good point. I do not believe I will ever fully forget what I saw in 2006, but, I certainly do appreciate that Italy have made a serious commitment to no longer having those things indicative of their play.

They were clean in every match, from what I saw, and I do not agree that Chiellini's elbow was as bad. For heaven's sake, he was reacting to being BITTEN. Who among us would not fling their arm out to get Suarez and his teeth away from you?

@shpalman- I was really disappointed that Immobile. He just couldn't get in the game. But I'm most disappointed with Balotelli. He missed big opportunities in the Costa Rica game and I was expecting him to work extra hard in the Uruguay game. Verratti was phenomenal performance from the 21 year old. A shame he couldn't finish the full 90 mins. Uruguay played so dirty.. reminded me of Honduras. I really feel the wrong team went through. I wanted to see more of this young Italian team. What a shame.
