More Monaco-goodies. Ricardo Carvalho has signed a one-year deal with Monaco. Mark: This is one of the players who played for us (Porto) when we beat Monaco in the 03/04 Champions League final! Hah.

Btw, best of luck to Carvalho. You were so underrated and loved by all Chelsea fans. We wish you the best in team 'Project Chelsea 2.0'

@V,

Hah, that's what many have been saying. Revenge after the 03/04 Champions League final loss; buying our current and former players. However, I think the main reason why a lot of our current and former players have been bought by Monaco is due to their president's very good relationship with Jorge Mendes. And you know he's right on it if one of his players gets a bid... Have to mention though, outstanding businessman.

By the way, don't you mean 'Project FC Porto 2.0'? xD

No. This seriously looks like Chelsea's past and present combined to me. Lets have a look at some stuff:

-Russian owner.
-First manager in the Abra era, Ranieri, is their manager.
-Carvalho signed for them.
-One of their targets was Ivanvoic.
-One of our (former?) targets is most likely going to them. Falcao.
-They're a really big spending club a la Chelsea.

I could probably think of more.

Oh, I see. I was thinking more in terms of who they've bought and want to buy. We should call them "Portsea"!

Or Chelto

Chelto sounds cool.

@Golden: Let's merge and form a team that can keep it's scouted/academy players and are rich enough to not need to sell them ;). I believe together, we would be the best team for quite some time, Golden. That is if only both owners put their brains together and join as one. And best of all, our favorite manager Mourinho gets to manage both clubs he used to manage. Shall we call it 'Project Chelto'?

That is one fantastic idea. We will be unstoppable. "Portsea" was kind of, "A Port to the Sea", but let's go with "Project Chelto". Watch out Europe, FC Chelto is coming for ya. We should create a lineup.

I'll let you be the judge of that as I have no knowedge of the Porto players. Once you put in the line-up I'll add my comments on it.

All right, then. Be sure to correct me, V, if I'm missing out on any Chelsea players. FC Chelto lineup in not a long time (includes current and former players of Chelsea and Porto that still plays at a world class level):

Cech
Ivanovic/Luiz - Thiago Silva - Cole
Lampard - Moutinho
Rodríguez - Hazard/Mata - Hulk
Martinez - Falcao

Manager: Mourinho

They should already write "Chelto" on the CL trophy, eh? ;)

Close but in my opinion, there are some changes to be done. Btw, is this a 3-2-3-2 formation?

Cech
Luiz/Carvalho - Thiago Silva - Terry
Lampard - Moutinho
Hulk - Zola - Hazard
Martinez - Falcao

Manager: Mourinho <3

First off, I could see Hulk better at RW as he is mostly known at Porto as a RW player. Plus that position + his left=awesomesauce. As for Rodriguez, I have no doubt he is an extremely talented player but he didn't get enough appearances to really prove himself to the world yet imo. Now I love Mata. A LOT. But my love for Zola will never be beaten (Lampard an exception). No Chelsea player could ever compare to the genius of Zola. The Nikola Tesla of football. This man is the one who led me to the beautiful game. Other than that, this is an extremely awesome team! I could seriously see a future best team in the world if this was ever formed :)

Let's add subs and finish this off. I'll add 3 Chelsea players or former Chelsea players and you add 3 Porto players or former Porto players.

SUBS (This was freaking difficult!):
-Desaily
-Ballack
-Drogba
-(Porto)
-(Porto)
-(Porto)

Desaily because even at 30 when joining Chelsea, this man was a wall for us. Now for the midfield part I wanted Mata, but nothing really compared to Ballack. He had it all. Set pieces? Ballack. Can play both central and attacking midfielder? Ballack can do that. Strong and well balanced? Ballack of course (Germans, huh?). Great passer? Oh yes he is. Captain quality/morale raiser? Oh yes he can. I love Mata soooooooooooooooooooooooo much. But every team needs a Ballack like player and we already have Zola. As for Drogba, I initially was thinking of Hasselbaink, one of our greatest poachers EVER. 29 goals in the '00-'01 season I believe. Amazing with a then high mid-table Chelsea team. 87 goals in 4 seasons with Chelsea. He was a boss.

Sadly, I really think he achieved most of his success in Chelsea due to one man. Eiður Guðjohnsen. Together, they were unstoppable. One of the best duo in the EPL. Anelka and Drogba don't even compare to their partnership. But Drogba... Drogba has it all. Strong, poacher, good defending, good passing, good speed and more. Plus, he shows up for the big ocassions. 9 goals in 9 finals for DD11 :)

The lineup was supposed to consist of players who plays or have played in Porto and Chelsea, RIGHT NOW, at a top level. Zola obviously doesn't, but I'd definitely put him in there if it was an all-time. Same with Carvalho and Terry.

If I'm going to put three players on the bench that currently plays or have played in Porto (still playing football), it will be:

  • Maicon/Mangala
  • Guarin/Anderson
  • Lisandro Lopez

And it's a 3-2-3-2, yes.

A suggestion for you would be for example Ivanovic/Luiz, Hazard/Mata and Ramires/Oscar.

Okay. I guess I'm putting Mata back and Ivanovic instead of Desaily. I guess we've created the line-up. An awesome one, in fact. Now I'm off to dream about the possible stadium, kit, crest and more.
