Can Arsenal create the surprise ?

I know it's to soon to judge, even Arsenal fans are keeping silent atm, And despite not reaching the February/march month where Arsenal usually struggle. But there are signs of Arsenal improvement that I guess their fans have noticed it.
Its too soon for CL but would they win PL already ?

  • Arsenal played the stability card, No big changes on tactics nor signings but they had an effective transfer market : Xhaka, Mustafi, Perez : Xhaka and Mustafi already won their starting place and erased last year weaknesses. Perez for depth and probably given playing time as he is starting to find his marks on the field between his teammates.
  • No big injury crisis : Its been a long time I didn't see both Ox and Walcott both fit and in form, its also the first time that Wenger has that many choices and depth to make his XI : two 9 with different abilities : Perez is technical and fast, Giroud is physical can be used for long balls aerial combinations and not bad at short pass combination, Iwobi silently progressing.
  • Defensively : Mertesacker is back from injury but both Gabriel and Mustafi can be played aside the established Koscielny who won his starter place in France and look very solid. They also have 2 defensive mid and will get back Cazorla soon.
  • Both Sanchez And Ozil look consistent which wasn't the case in the past, Sanchez is on fire and well Ozil CL performences are just out of this world.
  • The team looks confident and hungry, players look like having fun on and outside the pitch.
  • They used to drop point while completely dominating games, lately they win games without playing extremely well : as an example vs Stoke after the CL effort some players like Ozil had a terrible start but they have that gap level between them and their rival that garanteed them the win despite an early PK agaisnt them.
  • They have been outrageously dominating small teams in both PL and Europe, last time they ended up first of their group was in 2005/2006.

All this points makes me think they are PL contenders already, in addition to Manchester clubs not at their best form. Only Chelsea/Liverpool are likely to give them a fight in the long run, the bad point is that from this 3 they are the only ones to have to worry for CL, which give a fictive lead to Chelsea in the long run.

I know it's too soon, but it's been a long time all these points were not there at the same time for Arsenal, what do gunners think about it ? What do rivals think ?

If Arsenal want to look at a blueprint to success, go look at Chelsea post-2000. Look at what they've done, how they've done it, and their approach to success. Barring Abramovich's rashness in sacking managers and their lack of promoting youth, which are definitely not Arsenal's problems, they have done everything else right. If your next-door neighbors are winning trophies every other season, then perhaps they're doing something right...

@quikzyyy True, but a draw would have been a nice results, also, Everton were pretty poor in recent game if memory serve me right. :S

Quikzyyy, I didn't say EVERY possible point. Perform weekly, maybe drop the odd points we all do, then we win the title

Also, NO game is easy. Football is a hard competitive sport, especially in professional games when nothing is handed on a plate. However, as champions, it is these challenges that you have to overcame. I don't see us dropping these challenges once, I see it year in year out for a LONG time.

In reply to:How we have been performing? Except matches vs PSG, Leicester & United we have performed much better than in previous years. If you can't see this you're wrong. The old Arsenal would lose the match against United, wouldn't win against Burnley and probably some other matches.

That's quite odd. This season was pretty much the same, except we start slow and show a great performance every now and then. It's not same, but not different

It's like saying, would you rather have 50,000 shots and not score, or have 0 shots and not score. I would choose the former anyday. At least that way you have a chance of scoring.

Arsenal really makes me not want to be involved in football many times during a year. (is that even english??)

@decentK I can understand the feeling to an extend and sympathize with you. Stay strong my friend. (I think it was fine, even if it did sound a bit unnatural.)

Emobot, you told me to have faith, but by the time Chelsea drop 9 points, we will have dropped 20. It's deja vu from last season. I can guarantee we will lose in the round of 16 again.

Quikzyyy, I really want to know what you think now? Chelsea look a threat, Liverpool will be back, City and United are getting used to their manager's system. If we continue to not pick up points, we will crumble, and not even get top 4. This is a lot more harder compared to 2014 15 I believe

Tiki_Taka, we're currently in an injury crisis.

I don't wanna say this is a good thing, but missing that little creativity can cost us big. When I say that I mean Cazorla. Cazorla is a lot more consistent than Ozil, and Xhaka is not impressing me at all as of late. Monreal keeps on getting destroyed. Last time the dude on AFTV called TY said 'Everton should not be celebrating when they score a late goal and if we finish higher than them it will be a good season'. The mentality has been poor. The commentator even said ' look at the whole midfield walking...'

Useless staff like the psychologist, Fitness Coach, Board, Manager all need to go. To be honest I don't really care if your deluded, but don't spread lies through February when we collapsed and say we are ready to spend.

Also, what will happen if Sanchez gets injured and we lose the next game. Who do you all blame? Sometimes I wonder if we even have any drive.

Football is a competitive sport, but there's not point not having ability if you are lazy, or if you have terrible teammates (which is not the problem at Arsenal). I have not only watched this happen for years, but I have experienced it for years as someone who would play football every single day.

And before I end the little 'point' of, Mr Wenger, last two games we lost we have been poor. Don't go and say if the ref was better this wouldn't have happened.

Good thing I don't have to worry about Arsenal this week. Christmas came at the right time.
