The idea of applauding Real Madrid’s captain was one of the trending topics on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook on Tuesday.

The Camp Nou faithful are considering treating Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas to a rousing ovation just minutes before Saturday’s ‘Clásico´ kicks off.

The idea, which was started by a section of Barça’s fans on social networking sites on Tuesday morning, quickly became of the trending topics of the day. For some ‘Culés’, it’s a gentlemanlike gesture to salute and encourage the national team captain, who is going through a testing time. But for others, the plan offers an opportunity to rile Real Madrid by showing affection for a player who will start on the subs’ bench.

We must wait until Saturday evening to see whether Barça fans go through with the idea or not but one thing is certain to go ahead – fans will display a giant mosaic dedicated to Tito Vilanova before the match, which will read: “Força Tito!”, translated as ‘Be strong Tito’.

Very kind gesture from them. If I'm not mistaken, Casillas will be the first Real Madrid represent to receive a standing ovation at the Camp Nou. Quite an honor, if you ask me.

Still, it's to rub it in Madrid's face that they need to use San Iker, else he'll be welcomed at Barcelona with open arms.

I personally think Diego Lopez isn't getting the recognition he deserves with how well he plays.
I see he tries so hard every single match to give RM the clean sheet.

Very nice gesture from Barca fans, if they actually do it. I see nothing wrong with it.
