Trouble has been brewing over in Ligue 1 this evening, with reports that PSG midfielder Thiago Motta was head-butted during an altercation in the tunnel after his side’s 2-0 victory over Bastia.

CCTV footage of the incident has since emerged which appears to incriminate Brandao of two things: 1) head-butting Motta like a coward and then, 2) running away like a massive wimp…

You can see the bloody nose of Thiago Motta in this video:

Today, PSG has confirmed that Motta's nose is broken. How much punishment should he receive ?

Judging from reports, Brandao could face a ban of up to 2 years if Thiago Motta is unable to play for more than 8 days. Al-Khelaifi has confirmed that Motta will be unavailable for 4 games, so this basically guarantees Brandao's long-term ban. However, clubs cannot file reports against players. Only players can file reports, and Motta has chosen to not file a report against Brandao.

Bastia have confirmed that they will not take any further action on their player. Rumors have it that they might terminate Brandao's contract, but from Bastia's message, it seems unlikely.

Bastia's response was so childish, claiming that it was all due to racist acts in the field and that they wont do anything to Brandao because "it is not their duty".

Brandao should have a big match-ban coming up, not to be compared with Suarez's incident which is a completely different case. There have been occasions like this when a player is banned for as long as the other player's injury lasts but I think with this case the overall injury doesn't translate to the severity of the offence.

btw, I also read about what Dynastian said. If Brandao gets a 2-year-ban then this could perfectly be the end of his career, he is quite old now.

If Brandao deserves 2 years punishment ( which he does'nt ) then Zidane deserved 2 yrars suspension for headbutting Materazzi inthe 2006 wc final.Even if Zidane's headbutt was less dangerous it could still break Materazzi's chest bone or give him fatal breathing problems. How racist this world is, giving south Americans long bans ( suarez & Brandao ) while Europeans get short bans ( zidane )

First of all, read the comments because the reason why it has to be a long punishment has been told at least 3 times. Second, Zidane had Algerian descendant which makes him African and third, he retired right after the World Cup, so whats the point of banning him?

Firstly manchesterutl who gives a fck what other users wrote too long to read. Secondly who cares if zidane had Algerian descent everybody knows him for France no one calls zidane Algerian so he's 90% french. Thirdly why ban him if he retired after than the world cup? They could've banned him from entering stadiums like suarez or training so your excuses are invalid son.

Sorry, @koldimere, but next time please make sure to warn the mods on their walls. It's perfectly reasonable to be suspicious of some members here but by stating it publicly you invite those members to derail the thread even more.

Thanks.

The France FA has announced that Brandao is suspended until a full hearing to decide his punishment on September 18. This guy's career is done.

He deserves it. This is 10 times worse than what Suarez did.

Apparently, he will get only 3 games ban for an off pitch incident, longly premedited and prepared as he waited 20 minutes until the game ended, being very calm and determinated to wait Motta until the incident.
While on pitch incident in a high pressure game in a 1 to 1 duel in set piece gets Legendary sanction with World cup exit, national games ban, 4 months out of every sort of Footballing things, banned from training and for attending stadiums, they maybe forgot to add a ban for watching Football in TV, some months in jail, and a ban from eating hamburgers or oranges because it looks like a Football ball.

Well... it ended up being a historic sanction. Now he will face prison.

Duncan Ferguson ex-Rangers and Everton player was jailed for 6 months back in the 90's for headbutting a Raith Rovers players on the field during a match in the Scottish Premier League, i'll find a link.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2605626/Duncan-Ferguson-headbutted-Jock-McStay-20-years-day-one-controversial-incidents-football-history.html

There is a video of the headbut in there as well, if big Dunc deserved to go to jail for that then Brandao should absolutely serve jail time for a premeditated assault like that
