Barcelona sign Thiago Silva?

FUUCKKK YEAHHH! I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW! (If this happens)

According to Sport, Barcelona have reached a ‘tentative’ contract agreement with Thiago Silva.

The Paris Saint-Germain central defender has been on Barca boss Tito
Vilanova’s radar for some time and, after several months of intense
negotiation and contact in recent weeks, the report claims the player
has agreed terms and now hopes his club will put a price on his head.

Although it is only a first step, the Catalans consider it essential
before opening formal talks with the French outfit and, with the backing
of the player, are now ready to make a formal offer for the Brazilian
international.

It is believed La Blaugrana have already put together a contract
proposal for the 28-year-old, which would comprise of a five-year deal
and inclusion on the second tier of Barca’s wage scale, alongside Xavi
Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.

There would also be allowances for bonuses to compensate for any loss
of income with regard to the player’s wages at PSG, who have repeatedly
made public their reluctance to part with one of their star players.

The new road map drawn up by the Barcelona hierarchy is designed to
maintain friendly relations with the Ligue 1 club, although it is
evident Thiago Silva must make some kind of gesture to show he sees his
future as being away from the Parc des Princes and at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona director of football Andoni Zubizarreta and club President
Sandro Rosell are understood to have told Vilanova they will do
everything possible to bring Thiago Silva to the club.

However, there is still a lot of work to be done and a list of
replacements has been drawn up in case of any setbacks, with David Luiz,
Marquinhos and Daniel Agger all under consideration.

It's about time they bought a good defender. They spent 57.000.000 Euros on the wrong Brazilian. :P

They'd be better off with Hummels though, as he's younger than Silva by many years, and is experienced at the top level as well (and cheaper than Silva too).

^ I guess. But he is very slow and I think Sandro Rosell didn't want to be attacked by an angry mob of BVB fans :)

@Rama

No, not at all. Hummels is deceivingly fast for his height. Remember, he was able to keep up with the likes of CR7, Benzema, Ozil, Higuain, etc.

I don't rate Hummels anywhere near as highly as Silva. Personally, I think Barcelona should have made this move while AC Milan were still listening to offers. They still had the same defesnive problems back then. In any case, I'm not sure why PSG is bending over for Barca. He JUST signed a long-term contact with them last season. If he didn't want to play in PSG he shouldn't have done that. I know that's not how things work these days, but I'm getting sick and tired of "big teams" bullying other good teams out of contracts when they needn't sell.

@Foota

If Leonardo was still there, we might have a different story on our hands. :(

^i'm suggesting that may be why he left. It's being reported as though HE is the one who resigned and the club wanted him to stay. At least that's the tone of the articles.

^ According to eveywhere I've read, he resigned. He was on a ban anyway.

^Leonardo has nothing to do with the transfer, he resigned cause he was banned for stadiums in France, until june 2014. It's sad for Barça but Thiago will not leave psg this year, PSG does not want to sell.

Selling Thiago Silva would be a huge impediment to the ambitions of PSG and show the football world that Paris is still far from being able to compete with the biggest clubs.

It would be a big mistake to sell it and I do not think his departure. It is not in the interest of the club and Nasser did not let him go.

However, his agent denies a acccord between the player and barca but does not deny that there are contacts.
