Barcelona File A Complaint

Barcelona have filed a formal complaint with the European governing body UEFA about the refereeing of Wolfgang Stark in Tuesday's 2-2 Champions League draw at Paris St Germain.

Their main criticism concerns an incident in the second half of the quarter-final first leg in Paris in which Javier Mascherano and Jordi Alba collided and were both lying prone on the ground in the penalty area.

"The club has written to UEFA due to a series of incidents on the pitch in the understanding that objectively speaking it was evident that the referee did not apply the rules of the game," Barca spokesman Toni Freixa told a news conference after a meeting of the club's board on Thursday.

"When two players from the same team are on the floor the referee should stop the match, which did not happen.

"What's more he then obliged them to leave the pitch, in contravention of the rules.

"An incident that is sufficiently serious in a competition like the Champions League to bring to UEFA's attention so that it does not happen again."

Barca were also incensed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goal to make the score 1-1 in the 79th minute was allowed to stand when the Swede was clearly in an offside position.

Ibrahimovic, who spent a season at Barca in 2009-10, was playing only because UEFA halved on appeal the two-match ban he received after his sending-off at Valencia in the last 16 round.

"We are fully conscious of the possibility of errors in refereeing and we do not consider ourselves badly treated," Freixa said.

"But it surprises us that in a high-level competition a referee does not know the rules.

"We are not judging the work of referees but the basic principle that a judge should know the law. We hope it does not happen again."

It's like you completely ignored my previous posts! Pathetic. I never called my team the best, I said the best vs Barcelona. And also, your wrong about how it goes.

Chelsea vs Barcelona in total starting from the RA era: 4 wins, 8 draws, 2 losses
Barcelona vs Chelsea in total starting from the RA era: 2 wins, 8 draws, 4 losses

Did you even check the picture I posted before? Get it in your head and stop letting pride of your team join ignore the fact that Carvalho never grabbed Valdes, Barcelona did not deserve to win in 2009, Chelsea is their biggest weakness, and that you parked the bus before us.

Your using the records of matches from a friendly cup? That's low... I was using the CL matches during 2000.

i was using all barça vs chelsea matches. in C1 their was 12 matches. 2* (2000- 2005-2006-2007-2009-2012)
it was not a friendly cup, history of football did not begun in 2000... as i say for the last time.
15 games 5 wins 5 draws 5 loss. in c1 12 games : 4 wins 5 draws 3 loss for chelsea.... What a long historic domination ;)

In a decade of history vs Barcelona, that is the longest history of domination for Chelsea vs Barcelona. Also, yes it was a friendly cup. Finally, history obviously didn't start in 2000 but Chelsea vs Barcelona's rivalry actually began in 2000. You put too many stuff out of context and from my view, it makes you look stupid.

my stats are right, ho about yours ? in C1 we played 12 games, so the stupid is you learn to count before talking...
4 wins 5 draws 3 loss, is it domination? maybe for you... coupe des villes de foires is a cup, uefa cup. where is chelsea ?? fight to get place in C1 next year and see u in quarters if you get qualified...

Go read what exactly is the Coup des villes de foires on Wikipedia to understand what it is. It was compared to a friendly cup and was basically considered the Europa League of that time, which is frowned upon by many of the Barcelona fans I talk to for some reason. As for the numbers, yes I made a mistake but making miscalculations doesn't make you stupid. After all, we are human. And yes, when you actually think of it this way, we beat you 3 times before Guardiola came in. That was when Chelsea FC was still transitioning in to an elite club. When the mighty Barcelona face a club still going through the ranks of the elite clubs and are still doing that until today and couldn't beat it when it only was in its first years of improving, than that's domination. The fact "the mighty Barcelona" couldn't beat us 8 times is total domination from a team that has only been in the elites for around 7 years.

I would seriously cross out 2009. It counts yes, but that was by far the cheapest qualification I've seen.

@ Dynastian

How does anything you said about Real Madrid being in big games prove me being wrong? RM players dived in many of those games to get a result.

Examples:
Ronaldo dives VS AC Milan
Nani red card VS Manchester United
Countless Pepe dives vs Barcelona
Two possible penalties Bayern Munich could have easily got during the first leg
Dortmund and City were group stage games I'm mainly focusing on knockout stages.

I'm not saying saying that Barca doesn't screw teams over, I'm saying that RM does it just as much.

I'm not a idiot you are. I don't see why you attack people like you are the biggest genius and that no one can disagree with you. It is CLEAR that Real Madrid players DIVE and cause drama just to win! But being probably the biggest club in Europe, why couldn't you guys make it to the finals in the past years? Because you guys weren't good enough, that is all. That Nani red card is the only reason why you guys are still in the CL so please don't talk about Barcelona getting all the favorite decisions.

& @ your reckless vs intentional point, even though you may not agree with me that that is a red card. I'm pretty sure that you well know Pepe has gotten away with the dirtiest things in other Classico's and league games. Karma is a B I T C H. I know that because of Chelsea knocking our asses out of the CL last year.

Not to mention that Marcelo, Ramos, and Fabio should have all been red carded the first leg VS Bayern. RM get MANY MANY MANY chances in their favor. To be honest I dont even know what you're arguing, Dynastian.

@tdot

Are you retarded? When Ronaldo dived against AC Milan, DID ANYTHING HAPPEN??? Did Abate get a red card? NO. When Pepe dived, did anyone get a red card? NO. And if you're saying that the Nani red card was OUR fault, then there must be something wrong with your brain.

I'm sorry, but I'm tired of repeating the same frickin' points OVER and OVER again. When Barcelona dive in big games, THE OTHER TEAM GETS PUNISHED. When Real Madrid dived, NOTHING HAPPENED. Now do you understand what I'm arguing? Or is FC Barcelona still your Holy Father-who-can't-make-mistakes?

Well it's not my fault that Madrid has terrible acting. If you're gonna do something at least be good at it. The point is they were TRYING to get them carded. The point is that they were flopping their selves around the field to get the same decisions that you criticize Barcelona for getting. I bet if RM got all those favorited decisions in the CL that you guys get in La Liga, you wouldn't be here bitching like a mad woman.

What you're basically saying is that if both of us were to kill one person each and I get caught, I'm the bad guy. But you didn't get caught so you're the good person? We both did the same thing and in both cases is morally wrong, just like RM and Barca's actions.

So I'm going to ask you, are you retarded?

@tdot

I'm sorry, but your logic has flaws. You mentioned that if we both kill someone, and you got caught, YOU are the bad person. I'm afraid you're wrong in two ways.

  1. I will never kill a person.

  2. Your team is the one that DIDN'T get caught, retard. When Pepe dived, everyone knew it was a dive, and including the referee. When Busquets dived, everyone knew it was a dive, but the referee SAID IT WAS A FOUL. So unfortunately for you, we actually got punished for our sins. We tried to dominate world football by buying all the best players in the world, and all it ever earned us was 3 trophies. We vanished from Europe completely for almost a decade, until Jose Mourinho came and turned things around heads over heels. Now we've been in the semis of Europe's elite competition three years in a row, and we got here FAIR AND SQUARE. We've gone through our tough times, and even if we're at this stage this year after an unjust decision for poor Nani, WE DIDN'T CHEAT TO GET HERE. Unlike your team, who, with ALL their talent, chose to dive and cheat when their football didn't seem to work.
