In the above press conference: Guardiola was asked a question about a story that appeared in the Brazilian press earlier this week.
It claimed that Santos vice-president Odlio Rodrigues said Guardiola had encouraged Neymar to sign for Bayern instead of Barcelona, telling the player's father that Vilanova would be unable to manage having both the Brazilian and Lionel Messi in the same team.
His response was unexpected. After answering the allegations he vented against the Barca president/board for attempting to make him look bad in the media by leaking rumours to the press that he had not made enough effort to see Vilanova when he was diagnosed with cancer. The following video shows the response and is translated (turn on the Caption icon if you don;t see the captions):
1) The reasons behind the rift : Peps relationship with Rossell went from badto worse.
Pep Guardiola turned against Barça President Sandro Rosell and his board of directors in a relationship that deteriorated over time. Here we help you understand the key reasons behind the breakdown in the relationship between the two.
Relations with Pep as a coach were never good :
Rosell and Guardiola always kept their distance from each other. They respected each other and never completely fell out, but the way the coach s departure was handled and particularly with his replacement Tito Vilanova being announced on the same day was not what Guardiola had wanted.
Pep was closer to Cruyff and Laporta :
In the war between the former President Joan Laporta and Rosell, Guardiola was always seen to be closer to Laporta. Johann Cruyff was also in constant dispute with Rosell and that relationship helped make the distance greater between Pep and the club president.
Relationship with Vilanova cools down :
Guardiola went to live in New York which by coincidence became the chosen destination for Tito Vilanova to recover from his illness. Tito admitted in a press conference that his friendship with Guardiola had deteriorated, without saying anymore, however yesterday Pep did admit that he had visited Vilanova during his stay in the city.
News of Peps interest in Barca objectives :
Stories began to circulate in the press that Guardiola was interested in signing Neymar for Bayern Munich. After that, rumours linked Thiago to the German club. At the same time as Guardiola takes various former members of his Barca backroom staff to Germany with him.
Yesterday Pep brought the subject up again when he said he should have been left alone and in peace, and that some people had crossed the line in using Titos illness against him.
2) Inter Milan considers Martín Montoya : As an alternative to Mauricio Isla.
Inter hopes to sign Mauricio Isla as its new right back. However, Juve is not keen on letting the Chilean join its eternal rival. As a result, the Milan-based club has drawn up a plan B featuring the possibility of signing Barcelona player Martín Montoya.Walter Mazzarris backup plans also feature two top names from European football: Van Der Wiel, the PSG right back, and Darly Janmaat of Feyenoord.
3) Arsenal has its eye on Cesc : With a first option clause on the player.
Arsenal is paying close attention to the future of Cesc Fàbregas, in addition to the short list of strikers which Wenger has put together (Rooney, Higuaín and Luis Suárez). According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are willing to buy back the Catalan if he decides to leave Barça.The newspaper reports that the London club has a £25 million (around €30 million) first option clause in the event that the player decides to leave the Catalan club, and claims this may well happen given that he has failed to secure a regular place in Tito Vilanovas eleven.
4) Bayern will pay Thiago s release clause : Rummenigge has informed Barça.
Done and dusted. Guardiola s request has been granted by Bayern, the German club setting the wheels in motion to sign Thiago Alcántara.According to the RAC1 station, the German club s representative, Karl Heinz Rummenigge, has already approached Barcelona and announced Bayerns willingness to pay the release clause in full.Spanish radio station Cadena COPE had previously stated that Thiago Alcantara will sign for Bayern Munich. The deal could be announced this Thursday.Pep Guardiola had repeatedly insisted he would not make a move for the player. \"People have to know that Barca players are not leaving for money or desire. There are two possibilities: they dump you or you feel like you should be playing and Barcelona do not, remarked Guardiola a few days ago.Thiago will be accomodated by moving Javi Martinez to centre-back. In addition, Barcelona midfielder is still competing with Mario Götze and Toni Kroos, two outstanding players.
5) Deulofeu mastery heading to Premier League : An exhibition from one of the gems of la Masia.
The home-bred Barça player, who sealed a one-year loan deal with Premier League side Everton on Wednesday, has a wide range of tricks up his sleeve.
6) All roads lead to Marquinhos : JOINING PSG WOULD CLEAR THIAGO SILVA TO LEAVE.
They say that all roads lead to Rome and, in this case, the outcome of Barcelona\'s seemingly eternal chase for a new centre-back hinges on a current inhabitant of the Eternal City: Marquinhos. The Roma defender is coveted by both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, and where he goes could spark off a domino effect involving Thiago Silva.
The Catalan club is untroubled by the prospect of the youngster joining PSG. In fact, it would welcome such a move, as this could well signal a change in the Parisians current hardball stance on Thiago Silva, whom they have insisted is not for sale. The arrival of a promising centre-back like Marquinhos would surely make the French champions more amenable to the idea of losing Silva.
Alarm bells went off in Italy yesterday when Marquinhos seemingly failed to report for Roma\'s summer training camp. Rumours surrounding an imminent transfer went into overdrive, particularly with the club\'s director of football, Walter Sabatini, out of the country and, depending on which reports you believe, potentially negotiating deals in Paris and/or Spain.
It turned out to be a false alarm, however, the starlets agent later clarifying that his client had been sent home with a fever. Normal service was subsequently resumed when the young defender linked up with his teammates after being given the all-clear by the clubs doctors.
