I can see the Thiago Silva deal didn't go through :( I hope this does though. To me 29m seems too much for Luiz. Last year he was NOT worth that much. I think 20m is a more suitable price.

His market value is 29 million euros. Mourinho said no one will be leaving this season and he is happy with all the players he has. We don't have any reason to sell him, he is a quality player for us and he loves the club. Barcelona's chances of signing him is less than 1%.

Anyone forgetting Mats Hummels? He'd be a great choice for Barcelona too. :)

Or if Barca really want to stick to their Spanish contingency, they can go buy Inigo Martinez from Sociedad. :P

@Dynastian98, Mats Hummels may be great, but I really think Neven Subotic is better. He was really impressive in last season's UCL final.

Oh yes, definitely. They're both great, but it's just that Hummels is the bigger aerial threat up front as well. What's more is that he's deceivingly fast for his height, and has more experience in top level, as he plays with Germany and progressed pretty far with them in the EURO's. Although this little bit of experience may not give him THAT much of an edge over Subotic, it's still better than nothing. :)

@Dynastian98 I agree with you that he is a bigger aerial threat. But they both got the same number of goals last season (3). It is just that Hummels is defensively not as good as him. In Euro 2012, he was abysmal against Italy. It is just my opinion though, but I believe Subotic is a bit underrated and perhaps a bit overshadowed by Hummels due to his nationality.

Certainly. I guess it's largely due to the fact that Hummels is German, and playing in a German league, where the German media will love to accolade their own young national star rather than some Serbian footballer who is not a part of their national pride.

On a serious note though, they should checkout Schalke's Papadoulous, was very good in the Euro games for Greece. Would cost around ~15-17m euros

hey, dont talk down my man Kolo. I wouldnt be surprised if he started for Liverpool next season. Was also Citys best CB until the whole suspension thing.

I think 29m sounds about right for Luiz, because he's not only a great defender, he scores goals as well. More than Torres ;-)

@Footaholic, actually Luiz would be a good signing for Barca as they typically like to get defenders who are well-secured in possession and can go forwards as well.
