2014 is almost over, and in less than 1 month, the best player of 2014 will receive the Ballon D Or. As well know, the three candidates are Ronaldo, Messi, and Neuer. Who do you think deserves the award? Ronaldo has arguably had the best year of his career, winning all individual awards possible (apart from the world cup) and guiding his team to 4 titles, he managed to scored a total of 61 goals. Messi, even though he didn't have the best year of his career, did manage to pop in 58 goals, as well as winning the World Cup Golden Ball and leading Argentina to the final against the Germans. In 2014, he also became the top scorer in history of El Clasico, the Champions League, and La Liga. Not Leo's best year, but certainly not one to forget. The third candidate, Manuel Neuer, won the German double with Bayern Munich, as well as none other than the FIFA world cup with the German Naitonal Team, as well as winning the Golden Glove for best goalkeeper in the tournament. The only keeper that has ever won the Ballon D Or (called "European Player of the Year" at the time), was Lev Yashin, the Russian goalkeeper who won it in 1963. In recent years, the goalkeeper who got closest to it was the legendary Gianluigi Buffon, who got the "Silver Ball" second to his international team mate Fabio Cannavaro. So who deserves the 2014 Ballon D Or? Obviously for me the obvious choice is Ronaldo for everything he has accomplished in 2014, winning the most trophies individually as well as collectively , but everyone has different opinions. Like i said, no one is arguing about what happened in 2010. Not like it can be changed now. Im not hating on Ronaldo since frankly i dont really care who wins BO. I just think Neuer should be ahead of Ronaldo. That is my opinion and ive given arguments as to why i believe that.
Also in the argument messi won it in 2010 after Snjeider had won three trophies and it wasnt fair, Ronaldo's last BO was after Bayern had won a treble. Statistics or not, if you plan on using one argument for one player then at least know it can be used about the other player as well. So in any case both Messi and Ronaldo won "unfair" BO.

The thing is you guys are over simplifying the significance of the WC, and honestly the players who vote do take it in to account heavily since they know the feeling that tournament brings.

Raimondo I understand and respect ur point of view, like wise neuer had an excellent world cup and a good year but if u take into account this year ronaldo had an excellent year and a "poor" world cup when comparing to messi robben mullerr and neuer, however he actually had an "average" world cup well at least he got 1 man of the match award with his hands

So when comparing to neuer and ronaldo, I see no difference, in fact the winner will only be over by a slight score.

The reason the whole argument is being a pain in the ass it's just most fans are saying the messi deserves to win it, and their reasoning is pathetic so that's why we compare it to 2010

Example, Xavi in 2010 said messi deserves the world cup even though he had a poor world cup

Xavi 2014 ronaldo doesn't deserve in the top 3 because he had a poor world cup.

These statements are an example of most fans now saying messi deserves it. It's because they hate it when the player they hate the most wins it, their ego and envy blinds their previous situations which creates damp and hit to a fan who thinks the opposite

@Raimond Bayern did win the treble, but Ronaldo was individually better than any other Bayern player.
