The 25-year-old passed a medical and has signed a five-year deal, thought to be worth in the region of £120,000 per week.

New Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish will now hope to get most of the £16m fee to re-invest in players as he sets about re-shaping his squad.

I think that there was not an actual need for young, he is a winger right? there is already nani and valencia playing there unless he plays elsewhere he would really have to fight to be in the starting 11

Ashley Young could be neccessary for us if we want another successful year, considering Valencia and Nani can not play every single game in the season.
not to mention that Park and Giggs ages too, I have a bad feeling that they will not be as good as they were in the last season, Ashley Young will be needed.
not to mention that if injuries happen to Valencia or Nani, it can screws Fergie plan.
