A. Cole refused to play for Liverpool that's why he is butthurt. He is coming up with nonsense statements that doesn't even have anything to do with Football.

"Ashley cole said if I wanted an easy ride I would have gone to MLS."
I totally agree with him, joining Roma is a much better decision than MLS and I loved how he refused to join Liverpool.

In a later reply, Nicol subsequently tweeted, "he was good but he ain't as good as he thinks he is" in reference to Cole.

uhmn aside from that, he was mad because Cole kinda insulted the league that Steve is working in... he has all the right to be... it was a stupid statement. Cole was mad too because some people accused him as "transfer-due-to-money" which is also unseasonable...

@tuan how is that ignorant ? Older players go to the MLS for the money clubs in Europe won't pay players their age, not for a challenge, it's the retirement league. The level and competitiveness is not what we have in europe. This man chose to earn less at Roma so he can remain at the top level of football in the world, the CL. I agree people who cheat are dicks, and that his words were kind of disrespectful (even if they have truth in them) but that shows he's a true competitor, and I can't help but respect that. Even if I don't like him.

I can hardly remember anything bad from A.Cole on the pitch he is a quality player. Off the pitch acts has nothing to do with football, it's their lives. Football is not MTV.

Agree with both of you. Same to me that I hardly found anything bad on the pitch of him... he's just hard to like in my eyes (bias opinion because of what he did off the pitch).

I also agree that going to MLS is a down fall and a retirement league for top-class players. I had a post about Kaka and how frustrated I was when he joined MLS.

But, the ignorant path came from his comment: "I have had other offers from USA, but I didn't want to sit on the beach yet."... that's quite disrespectful toward MLS' player (IMO). Not to mention he might have a hard time to shine there, he needs team-mates, he would be one of the top player though.

@marcus haha yeah gary neville was such a grade A c*nt when he was a player. He's a great pundit though and I like him better now. Ashley Cole is one of our all time best defenders, but a legend hell no. Every arsenal fan hates him. I agree with most of what you said too.

I feel sorry for that but the MLS will never get on par with european football in my opinion. I want the US to be great at football because football deserves to be the most popular sport everywhere in the world, but the MLS can't catch up, because whatever they do they won't have the Champions League. And that is the holy grail of club football.
