Arsenal do fantastic every year because of their bloody amazing manager. He loses at least his two best players every year and still finishes in the top 4 every year. I have to say, Arsene Wenger deserves a lot more respect from us football fans than he receives. Nice post btw. Found it interesting to read ~
Interesting timing (on a day where the media is entirely preoccupied with JT's racism verdict).
Anyway, I rummaged through the documents (so you wouldn't have to) and highlighted the key points and figures. Remember, these figures don't take into account sales, purchases, and other expenditures that occurred this summer onwards. For example, the Queensland Road Sale (for 24 mill) isn't included in the turnover.
Club's Total Worth = 620 million;
Club's Total Worth - all debts, liabilities, and taxes = 297 mill
Current Share Value = 17 thousand
Amount of Liquid Cash in Bank as of May 2012 = 153.6 mill
Net Debt = 98.9 mill
Total 2011-12 Turnover (Income) = 243 mill;
[95 mill of this is from gate receipts alone. That makes up a whopping 40% which is much too high for the 6th ranked club in the world. Only 34 mill comes from commercial sponsorship, a poultry 14%. This is a very poor percentage and something the club is focusing on increasing substantially over the next 2 years.]
Wage Bill = ~ 61% of Turnover; [This is a 6% increase from last year]
Profit Before Tax = 36.6 mill
NET profit (After tax) = 29.6 mill
As you can see the club makes a profit every year and is way ahead of the FFP curve but there are things that must be addressed.
For example, if Arsenal were to compare itself to RM (the highest earning football club in the world) it has a Turnover almost half that of the 408 mill quoted by them for the year 2012. Of course, they along with Barcelona and United are THE biggest money makers but we are steadily increasing due to an increase in the globalization of the Arsenal "brand". In other words, we have far more room for growth than any of the teams above us and this will be a huge boost to any interested sponsors. Speaking of which, the MOST important thing for Arsenal right now is to get the most they can for the new shirt & training kit deals that will commence from 2014. This could easily add another 25-30 mill pounds per annum if done correctly. Add to that the new EPL TV deal and we will have substantially more income in the coming years. Things look good but there's a way to go to get to the very top.
I hope you found this informative.
