Arsenal bid £40,000,001 for Luis Suarez to activate clause to enter talks. Liverpool say he is worth £55,000,000

Arsenal have reinforced their determination to sign Luis Suárez with a club-record bid of £40m plus £1 for the Liverpool striker. The offer was rejected out of hand by Liverpool but Suárez could push for talks over a sensational move to the Emirates Stadium, if he so desires.Liverpool were angered by Arsenal's second bid for the 26-year-old when it arrived on Tuesday and remain adamant it will not trigger the release of their prized asset. The Arsenal chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, was informed by his Anfield counterpart, Ian Ayre, that Liverpool would not consider a sum of £40m for Suárez when he lodged an opening offer of £30m plus £5m in add-ons.But that has not deterred Arsenal from returning, a fortnight later, with an offer that activates a clause in Suárez's contract by one pound. Under the terms of a contract signed in August, Liverpool must inform last season's leading goalscorer of a club's interest once they receive a bid of more than £40m.Anfield officials were due to fulfil that obligation to the Uruguay international following Liverpool's pre-season friendly against Melbourne Victory . It will then be up to Suárez to decide whether he wishes to agitate for a move to Arsenal, having blamed vilification by the British media and the Football Association as the root of his disillusionment in England.Liverpool are adamant that the £40m clause is not a fixed sale price and that they remain free to negotiate their own transfer fee for Suárez. As reported earlier this summer, Liverpool rate Suárez as a better player than Fernando Torres when he was sold to Chelsea in January 2011 and would demand in excess of the £50m received for the Spain international. Brendan Rodgers confirmed that position last week when he placed Suárez in the same price bracket as Uruguay team-mate Edinson Cavani, who recently joined Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli for £55.6m."When you consider that Cavani has gone for £55m you know … Luis is up there in that bracket of top talent," the Liverpool manager said. "Obviously it [Arsenal's first bid] was an offer we didn't deem worthy of the talent and even if they came back with that kind of amount [£55m] there's no guarantee he would be sold even for that because we are trying to build something here."Rodgers has repeatedly stated that Suárez is not for sale and it would require "something drastic" to alter Liverpool's stance on a player they supported throughout the racism controversy with Patrice Evra and again when he received a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanoviclast season. The former Ajax captain has six games left to serve of the Ivanovic suspension next term and his appearance against Melbourne Victory will be his first since April's incident.

Liverpool have rejected Arsenal's improved offer of just over £40m for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.
The unusual bid, understood to be £40,000,001, was designed to trigger a clause in the player's contract, but Liverpool have turned it down.
Under the terms of Suarez's deal, the club are duty bound to consider any offer for him in excess of £40m and then inform the 26-year-old of it. But they do not have to sell and have now rejected two bids from Arsenal.
While Liverpool remain determined to keep their prized asset, who scored 30 goals for the club in 44 appearances last season, their resolve is likely to be tested if the bidding continues to rise.
Should Arsenal persist and have an improved bid accepted, it could come close to trebling their previous highest initial outlay on a transfer.
The Gunners, whose first offer for Suarez was £30m, paid a reported £15m to Zenit St Petersburg for Andrey Arshavin, in January 2009.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers last week said he considered Suarez to be at least as valuable as Edinson Cavani, who recently joined Paris St-Germain for £55m.
Real Madrid remain interested but have yet to make a formal offer.
Suarez joined Liverpool's pre-season tour of Australia at the weekend and was expected to hold talks about his future with Rodgers.
The Uruguay international flew to Melbourne from Montevideo on Sunday after being given extended leave by the Reds following the Confederations Cup.
He wants to leave Anfield to play for a Champions League club despite only signing a new long-term deal last summer.
Speculation has grown about Suarez's future since he was punished with a 10-game ban at the end of April for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.
The striker still has to serve six games of that suspension and was also banned in 2011 after being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.
Suarez joined Liverpool from Ajax in January 2011 in a £22.7m deal.

Problems with knibis :

1) He hates the EPL
2) He thinks the Spanish league is the best league in the world
3) He overrates players from the Spain League
4) He likes PES

@Ven

I have heard of that one. An interesting one, but I think that Monaco would've splashed the cash anyways. But one thing to note is that Colombia is a third-world country, and coming from a third-world country myself, I can safely say that a lot of times birthdates in schools are messed up. Which means that there's a pretty high chance that Falcao is 27, NOT 29.

@Vendetta you proved right there that you are the same for EPL then...

read what i say, what was so wrong, you tell me Isco wouldnt have had a market value on 50+ if he was an english talent. look at Downing, Carroll etc. Benteke is not an english striker but his marked value went through the rough from scoring 19 goals this season. Aston Villa are declining bids on close to 30 M.E on him, thats a long way from being valued 3,5 M.E (transfermarkt) at Genk.....

wut? :) im a EPL hatar for saying Soldado is not twice as bad as Suarez or that english talents are valued higher because there arnt as many in recent years (im sure you heard from many other people too, that they think british players are valued higher compered to France, Spain and Germany where it flows with em)

you can run from it all you want but evidence is all around you

The funny thing being, everyone in England laughed at the Carroll and Downing transfers.

If Isco would not have had a market value of 50m if he'd being playing for Everton; what nonsense. RVP is one of the best strikers in the world, and went for 24m only last summer. Isco, if he'd managed to perform at the same standard in the PL as he did in La Liga (which is in question) would have fetched a good price, yes, but not 50m. That's ridiculous.

Modric was one of the most influential midfielders in the league two years ago, and still Chelsea (who were desperate for someone of his ability, before they got Mata) were not prepared to go beyond 40m for him.

Benteke has come into a lower-table side, and proved to be one of the best strikers in the league in a single season. THAT is enough to merit people talking about 25m for him (still half the price of this Suarez price-tag), and I'd damn sure rather have him that Roberto Soldado.

The evidence IS indeed all around you, and it points to Vendetta being correct.

@Lodatz

Actually, I can't see how you could question Isco's talent when Isco's best performances came in the Champions League and U-21 EURO's. From there is where the majority of his price tag came from. :P
