Judging by how Pique charged up and Mascherano and Alves were left confused as to what to do with Torres today for the goal... I believe I can maintain my stance that Barca's defense is quite poor.

Dy, one mistake every few games does not mean Barca has a weak defence. They have only conceded around 36 goals in all competitions. Not many teams have that great of a record. I think Atleti are one of the few who are better. Would have to do research but yeah.

Sometimes lady luck is against you, sometimes its with you.

@Rai

Barca's defense is heavily protected by their offense. Their offense forces teams to sit back and defend deep. If they venture out too far, they get punished by MSN. In the cases that Barca's defense gets attacked, they are cleaved in half quite easily. Their backline has no sense of togetherness (which one can see in the backline of Juventus, for example). They are hardly ever able to play the offside trap despite being so far up the pitch.

Their wing-backs spend too much time up along the wings, Pique is an average defender, and Masche is quite good but is played out of position. Busquets is the only one who is both good defensively and plays in his proper position. Iniesta and Rakitic do nothing to shield the defense either - they are both heavily offensively-minded.

This team is very lop-sided in offense. This is the best offensive line-up club football has seen during this era, but Barca's defense is nowhere near that calibre. Last season, it was largely Barca's unstoppable offense that won them the treble. Even in the final against Juventus, you could see Juve get a repeated string of opportunities for a good 20 minutes. But they were ultimately punished for pushing too high by MSN.

You cant have a team that has the best attack mid and defence all at once. Sacrifices must be made and in Barcelona the tactical fit of a player is the priority. They say attack is the best form of defence and I agree. If you are keeping 65% of possession on average then it limits what the other team can do. You have to look at defending as a whole, not just what 4 or 6 players can provide in one given attack. Its the exact same thing for when a team attacks. Its what the whole system can do to maximise your chances of scoring and minimise the chanced of conceding.

I dont know whats the problem. They play so good this way the amount of pressure they put on teams works. A.Madrid parking the plane in The 18 box is a great way to pay.

Sure they could use better then pique and mascara but the aint so bad afterall. Imagine If they had ramos i wouldnt wanna..
