After the latest Europa League final Benfica became the club with the most European consecutive finals lost.

I dont know if anyone had mentioned it before but Benfica's missfortune is said to be attributed to a curse, Bela Guttman's curse.

Benfica has had a "curse" since the year 1962 when the team's board decided to sack Bela Guttman, a man who gave them two consecutive UCLs and many other national tittles. Guttman asked for a raise and the board reacted firing him. Guttman swore that Benfica would not win another European cup for the next 100 years because of him being sacked, and this became the well known "Guttman Curse"

It is wierd because Benfica played a great game against Chelsea, maybe even deserved to win it more but luck wasnt on their side and they ended up losing once again. Also, after winning two consecutive Champions Leagues you would think they were on a great form but after Guttman left they lost the finals for the 1962-63, 1964-65 and 1967-68 seasons. I personally dont believe in things like curses or that kind of stuff but it is funny how the facts backup this story and the "curse"

I thought it was an interesting fact to show the community, I dont know if anyone made a thread about it so tell me if Im reposting the topic.

What do you guys think about this? Pure coincidence or a real malicious curse?

wow, this curse is real heavy...

If you believe in a superstitious curse like that, you probably one of those guys who also thought the World was going to end on 21/12/2012 because the Mayans said so..
