Vincent Kompany scored one of the most comical, hilarious own goals this weekend at Craven Cottage.When you see it, you'll know it's an instant classic. It got us thinking about previous classics, so we've compiled a list of five own goals you simply have to see!

• Vincent Kompany vs. Fulham +

Try this 100 times and you won't manage it once.He's chipped his own goalkeeper from six yards with the outside of his boot. The ball goes a good three feet above the crossbar before coming down behind a helpless Joe Hart.What?!?!?

• Lauren vs. Manchester City +

Inexplicable stuff from Lauren as he attempts to shepherd a long ball away from the attacker, but he's pressured into trying to clear it behind his own goal for a corner.Unfortunately, it's a sweet strike that nestles right into the bottom corner. The goalkeeper is perplexed.

• Lee Dixon vs. Coventry +

We've all been here, right?Lee Dixon sees nothing on and decides to play the ball back to the goalkeeper. He's a good 25 yards from goal, so he has to put some "oomph" into it, but the Arsenal man woefully miscalculates and ends up chipping his teammate in sublime fashion.Zinedine Zidane would have been proud of that one.

• Jamie Pollock vs. Queens Park Rangers +

If this goes into the right net, it's a golazo, but unfortunately for Jamie Pollock, he gets his directions all wrong here.He runs onto a through ball, chips it over his centre-back and heads it beyond the 'keeper in a crazy three-second salvo.Absolutely ridiculous.

• Peter Enckleman vs. Birmingham City +

With Aston Villa trailing 1-0 in the Second City derby, Olof Mellberg collected the ball for a throw-in and played it back to his goalkeeper Peter Enckelman.The ball rolled under the Dane's foot and went straight into the net, and as the referee thought the 'keeper had touched (he hadn't), it was wrongly given as a goal.Villa lost the game 3-0.
