I've gathered some of the information on most of the transfers in the past four seasons from four teams. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City. Here is what it looks like:

Barcelona:
2008/09: Total spent: €88M    Total Income: €49.5M
2009/10: Total Spent: €85.5M Total Income: €2M
2010/11: Total Spent: €71.5M Total Income: €39M
2011/12: Total Spent: €60M    Total Income: €46.75M
Overall Spent: €305M Overall Income: €137.25 Balance: -€167.75

Real Madrid:
2008/09: Total Spending: €71.7M Total Income: €69.7M
2009/10: Total Spending: €259M  Total Income: €88.5M
2010/11: Total Spending: €74.5M Total Income: €16M
2011/12: Total Spending: €55M    Total Income: €9M
Overall Spent: €459.7M Overall Income: €183.2M Balance: -€276.5M

Chelsea:
2008/09: Total Spending: €24.6M   Total Income: €34.9M
2009/10: Total Spending: €23M      Total Income: €0.86M
2010/11: Total Spending: €101.4M Total Income: €14.15M
2011/12: Total Spending: €87.45M Total Income: €20.2M
Overall Spent: €236.45M Overall Income: €70.1M Balance: -€166.35M

Manchester City:
2008/09: Total Spending: €122.35M Total Income: €8.5M
2009/10: Total Spending: €118.5M   Total Income: €17M
2010/11: Total Spending: €143M      Total Income: €20.5M
2011/12: Total Spending: €77M        Total Income: €27M
Overall Spent: €460.85M Overall Income: €72.5 Balance: -€388.35M

Keep in mind that some of these values maybe slightly off due to add ons and some undisclosed fees. But
Hare ur opinion and thoughts. I did this purely to compare the spending of four active teams in transfer windows.

On their own, these transfer values are astronomical, and dare I say, immoral. However, one must take into consideration the market strengths of the individual clubs, their forward projection, and the rate of turnover. In short, while RM may have paid unholy amounts for a Ronaldo, they recouped their 80million pound investment in just 1.5 years through his shirt sales and other marketing adventures. Unfortunately, that isn't the case with most of these high-spending clubs.

I should of explained a bit more. The income comes purely of transfer sales.

@Tuanis i looked into PSG before posting this and in the seasons of 08/09 09/10 10/11 their transfers were less than 50M total. only in the 11/12 season did they spend 100M+.
