The tournament, which is set to take place in Mexico in 2017, is open to retired stars aged between 35 and 45 who want to represent their country once more.

Plans for the tournament were revealed at the annual Aspire4SPort conference in Berlin by a panel that included Juan Sebastian Veron, Gaizka Mendieta and Patrick Kluivert, who all support the event.

The likes of Ronaldo, Zidane, Beckham, Scholes, Cafu, Ballack, Shevchenko and many more are likely to join the event.

I only hope it gets sort of competitive. Friendlies are often boring because the game is slow paced probably due to lack of competitively.

The squads announcements would be a huge thing! It is probably really hard for any country to build a 23 man squad from players between 35-45.

Looking forward for this event. Really gong to spice up the 2018 WC. Hope it becomes a regular event not just this one occasion.

@Tuanis I think it will be fairly competitive, since it will b first ever in history Legends World Cup and I'm sure any nation that will take part, would want to win the tournament.

I can't wait till they announce the countries and line-ups!
