Who Should Become the New Manager of Bayern Munich?

Zinedine Zidane, Julen Lopetegui, Julian Nagelsmann, Xabi Alonso, Ralf Rangnick, Sebastian Hoeness – this is by no means a complete list of coaches who have refused to take over Bayern for the new season. Things were so dire that management had to ask Thomas to reconsider, and he declined. However, fans should not despair, as there are still several suitable candidates on the market who would fit well at the helm of the German giant.

The most obvious option is the return of Hansi Flick. His Bayern was the last ultra-dominant version of the team, winning the treble in the 2019/20 season. Unlike other questionable candidates, he would command maximum respect, and some players are already familiar with his requirements. The same "senators," like Thomas Müller, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Manuel Neuer, would surely agree to extend their contracts and become conduits for his ideas. His arrival might even keep Alphonso Davies at the club. The downside: expectations for Flick would be sky-high, and not winning the championship next year would be seen as a failure, regardless of Bayer's performance level.

Considering the club's status and resources, Antonio Conte is a less straightforward but still suitable candidate. Transitioning to his signature three-center-back system would surprisingly fit well and could solve several issues at once: it would return Kimmich to the midfield, mask the Munich defenders' slowness, which hampers playing with a high line, and allow for all the numerous wingers to find a place (especially relevant if Davies stays and Jeremy Frimpong arrives). The only problem is that such a charismatic personality as Conte is unlikely to please the current management, which does not like when the coach tries to control everything and makes demands and complaints.

There are also other, more exotic and less obvious options: a swap with Manchester United of Tuchel for Erik ten Hag, the arrival of Graham Potter or Joachim Löw... There are even rumors about Vincent Kompany, who was relegated to the Championship with Burnley. One thing is clear: whoever ends up at the helm of the club next season will certainly not have an easy job.
