Who Got Unlucky with Geography in the UCL?

Portuguese teams are the unluckiest, while the French have it easy.

Sporting and Benfica are the only teams in the 2024/25 UCL group stage that will travel over 15,000 km in total. Sporting have their longest trip to Sturm, while Benfica will head to Crvena Zvezda.

Bologna and Slovan also got unlucky with more than 10,000 km to travel. The Italians will have away matches against both Lisbon clubs, while the Slovaks' most extended trip is to Madrid to face Atletico.

However, the two French giants got lucky with their schedules. Despite PSG facing tough opponents, their travel is minimal. For example, it's only 469 km from London. Monaco also got an easy trip, with their furthest destination being Milan, just 304 km away.

Let's briefly cover the biggest winners and losers in other European competitions. In the Europa League, Qarabag has the longest journey (over 26,000 km). At the same time, in the Conference League, it's Vikingur from Reykjavik (25,000 km). Ferencvaros (6,500+ km) and LASK (2,500+ km) got the best travel luck.
