"We Were Robbed." Almeria player speaks about the defeat in the match against Real Madrid

Almeria midfielder Gonzalo Melero has commented on the defeat in the 21st-round match of the Spanish La Liga against Real Madrid (2-3).

"We were robbed. And this has happened several times this year. Today's events crossed all boundaries; it was incredible. There was no way to influence them to win the match. There were many interpretative decisions, such as the handball goal. It just can't be," Melero said, as quoted by AS.

During the game, three controversial incidents arose, all resolved against Almeria. The main referee of the match, Francisco Jose Hernandez Maeso, used video replay to make decisions on these incidents. Initially, the referee decided to award a penalty to Real Madrid in the 56th minute, which Jude Bellingham eventually converted. After that, Maeso decided to disallow Almeria's goal in Real Madrid's net in the 62nd minute of the match. Then, the referee again decided in favor of Real Madrid, awarding Vinicius a goal in the 67th minute after reviewing the video replay. Thanks in part to the referee's decisions, Real Madrid managed to equalize the score in the match, coming back from 0-2 down.
