BBC: Tuchel Agrees to Lead the England National Football Team.
German coach Thomas Tuchel has accepted the Football Association (FA) offer to become the England national team's head coach, reports BBC.
The appointment of the former Chelsea manager is expected to be announced this week, with the presentation to take place at Wembley Stadium. Tuchel will become the third foreign manager to lead the England national team, following Sweden's Sven-Göran Eriksson and Italy's Fabio Capello.
Lee Carsley will continue to serve as interim head coach for the Nations League matches in November against Greece (November 14, away) and Ireland (November 17, home). Tuchel will officially take charge after these matches.
In July, Gareth Southgate announced his resignation as head coach of the England national team. Before this, England lost in the final of the EURO 2024 in Germany to Spain (1-2), claiming their second consecutive silver medal in the tournament.
At the end of the season, Tuchel left Bayern Munich, which he took charge of in 2023. Under his leadership, the team became the Bundesliga champions in the 2022/23 season. Still, in the following season, they failed to finish first in the Bundesliga for the first time since 2012. From 2021 to 2022, Tuchel managed Chelsea, where he won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. Tuchel was named FIFA Coach of the Year in 2021. Before Chelsea, he managed Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and Mainz.
