The Liverpool Player Has Signed a Contract for 30 Million EUR to Wear Adidas Boots

Alexander-Arnold chose a model made famous by Zidane and Beckham.

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has signed a long-term agreement with Adidas. The collaboration has been officially announced. According to Daily Mail, the 25-year-old footballer will receive approximately 26 million pounds (about 30 million euros) from the German manufacturer for wearing boots of this brand.

The collaboration has already begun and has been memorable. Alexander-Arnold stepped onto the field in the Predator model boots during the 13th-round match of the English Premier League against Manchester City and scored a goal in the 80th minute. It was his first goal in the 2023/24 season. Thanks to Trent's goal, Liverpool secured a draw (1-1) against the reigning English champion. The team is in third place in the league table with 28 points, trailing Arsenal by two points.

Predators boots are one of the iconic football footwear models from Adidas. Their key feature is the rubber coating on the upper part of the boots for better grip and ball control. Based on which Adidas developed the lineup, the prototype idea for the Predators belongs to former Liverpool player and Australian midfielder Craig Johnston. In the 1980s, he won the club's five league titles and the European Cup.

Adidas first introduced the Predator boots before the 1994 World Cup in the USA. Since then, several legendary players have worn this model, including Xavi and Raul, Michael Ballack, Alessandro Del Piero, and David Beckham. The iconic moments for Predator boots include Zinedine Zidane's winning goals in the 1998 World Cup, the 2002/03 Champions League final, and David Trezeguet's goal in the Euro 2000 final.

In the promotional video dedicated to the start of the collaboration with Adidas, Alexander-Arnold revealed that he played in Predator boots back in Liverpool's academy. He chose these boots inspired by the team's triumph in the 2005/06 Champions League final. Liverpool won against Milan despite a 3-0 score in favor of the Italians at halftime. In that final, the captain of Liverpool, Steven Gerrard, wore Predator boots.

Since his debut for Liverpool in October 2016, Alexander-Arnold has been associated with Under Armour. The deal's financial details were not disclosed, but Trent was the most prominent ambassador for the American brand.

Alexander-Arnold moved to Adidas after the expiration of the agreement with Under Armour. According to Daily Mail, the German company sees great potential in the 25-year-old footballer. Adidas is confident that Trent will become Liverpool's captain shortly. This role is fulfilled by his defensive partner, Virgil van Dijk. In addition to a one-time payment of 30 million euros, the Germans promised to assist Trent in launching his own line of sports equipment and provide powerful marketing promotion. This collaboration will also allow the footballer to benefit from the partnership.

The highest endorsement deal for boots goes to Puma, paying Brazilian Neymar 23 million pounds annually since 2020. Adidas pays the most to Argentine Lionel Messi, paying 18 million pounds annually as part of a lifelong deal.
