Barcelona is currently in a dire situation.
On September 28, Barcelona was officially charged with bribery in the case of the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Jose Negreira.
The head of the Barcelona Investigative Court, Joaquin Agirre, who is leading the case, deemed the 7.5 million euros paid by the Catalan club to Negreira a crime.
Negreira, his son, and former Barcelona presidents Josep Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell are also implicated in the bribery.
As reported by The Telegraph, this case could lead to the disappearance of Barcelona from the football world.
«If found guilty, the criminals could face three to six years in prison. Barcelona itself may be suspended from professional football activity, which is likely to lead to the bankruptcy of the 124-year-old club,» the report states.
It was previously reported that the Catalan club has yet to receive official notifications regarding the ongoing legal investigation and, at this time, will not make any public statements.
