FIFA President Gianni Infantino commented on the decision regarding the hosts of the 2030 World Cup.
«In a divided world, FIFA and football unite. The FIFA Council, representing the entire world of football, unanimously agreed that celebrating the centenary of the FIFA World Cup, the first edition of which took place in Uruguay in 1930, is most appropriately done this way.
As a result, the celebration will take place in South America, and three South American countries - Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay - will each host a match of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The first of these three matches will, of course, take place at the stadium where it all began, at the legendary 'Estadio Centenario' in Montevideo, commemorating the centenary of the FIFA World Cup.
The FIFA Council also unanimously agreed that the only bid for the rest of the 2030 FIFA World Cup will be a joint bid from Morocco, Portugal, and Spain,» - FIFA's official website quotes Gianni Infantino.
It is worth noting that the 2026 World Cup will be the first in history to be hosted by three countries. However, the United States, Mexico, and Canada are neighbors and are located on the same continent at the very least.
