Soccer’s Biggest Upcoming Clashes: Key Games to Watch in 2025

2025 promises to be a busy year for football lovers, with plenty of action lined up. Despite not having the World Cup or the Euros this year, there is much to look forward to. The new UEFA Champions League and Europa formats may have faced criticism from different quarters, but the schedules are out, and we are already into the last 16.

We can talk of hundreds of big clashes in the soccer calendar, but here are five clashes you cannot miss in 2025.

UEFA Nations League (Italy or Germany) June 8

The UEFA Nations League has become one of the most competitive football tournaments in recent years. It is where Europe’s best national teams meet to establish their might. It is yet to be confirmed whether the finals will take place in Italy or Germany, but wherever it will be, expect an entertaining match. There are great sides lined up, including France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Germany, and England. Group games have been taking place in the middle of the domestic league schedules, and betting fans can check out the Caesars sportsbook promos for bonus codes to be used in their wagers.

UEFA Europa League Finals (Bilbao, Spain) – May 21

The second most followed club football event started with 36 teams drawn from several European countries, but only 16 will go through. Heavyweights Lazio, Athletic Bilbao, Lyon, Manchester United, Tottenham, Ajax, AS Roma, FC Porto, and Lyon are teams expected to fight hard for the trophy. It is still very early to predict who will win it, making it even more interesting for betting fans.

UEFA Champions League (Munich, Germany) – May 31

This year’s finals of the UEFA Champions will take place in Munich, the home of German giants Bayern Munich. Interestingly, Bayern are among the favorites to take it home this time, and they would fancy playing a final in their backyard against whatever kind of opposition. English side Liverpool leads the 32-team table with a 100 percent record after seven matches, but the last 16 should present a whole new challenge. Real Madrid, PSG, and Manchester City have not had the best campaigns this season, but you can never rule them out. Other teams favoured to give it a good go include free-scoring Barcelona, Arsenal, Inter, Atletico Madrid, and Bayer Leverkusen.

UEFA Womens Champions League (Lisbon, Portugal) – May 24

Who knew women's football would get to this point; creating massive fan excitement worldwide? We have come of age, and the women's edition keeps growing every year. The 2024 finals between Olympique Lyonnais and FC Barcelona in Bilbao broke the attendance record with 50,827 fans attending the finals. 2025 could get even bigger, with the same clubs and others competing for the title. Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Wolfsburg are poised to give us a treat going into the finals in Lisbon.

UEFA Women’s Euro (Basel, Switzerland) – July 27

Another women’s tournament to look forward to is the finals of the UEFA Euros in Basel. With most football leagues ending in May, there won’t be much club football until August. The Women’s Euros present the football world with something exciting for the period, with the likes of defending champions England, France, Sweden, France, Holland, and Germany all expected to feature.

Other major clashes to follow in 2025 include the UEFA Conference League finals, Men's and Women’s U17 and U19 Euros, and the U21 Euros.

At the club level, we have yet another El Classico to watch, Liverpool vs Manchester City, and much more.
