Salah’s Sudden Exit From Liverpool: Where Will He Go After the Scandal?
A storm is sweeping through the foggy Albion — and its name is Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian superstar gave a fiery interview, openly criticising Arne Slot and hinting at a possible departure from Liverpool. Salah has grown tired of warming the bench — he hasn’t started in the last three Premier League matches, and after the chaotic 3–3 draw against Leeds away, he decided to speak out.
Salah expressed deep disappointment, admitting that this was the first time in his career he spent three full games — 90 minutes each — sitting on the bench. The forward believes the club’s management is shifting responsibility for recent poor results onto one player — him.
Liverpool currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, 10 points behind the leaders. Salah has played 13 league matches this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists. In the Champions League, he has one goal and one assist in five games.
During the interview, Salah claimed he has no communication whatsoever with Arne Slot. The Dutch manager, however, explained that he selects players based on tactical suitability for each opponent, also referencing Salah’s upcoming participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off in late December.
Slot’s Second-Season Crisis
After a brilliant debut year in the Premier League, Arne Slot now faces what many call a "second-season syndrome". Initially, it seemed Liverpool were safe from such a scenario — the club spent £450 million in the summer, signing young superstars including Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. On paper, Liverpool looked stronger than ever, but reality turned out harsher.
Wirtz is still trying to adapt, Jeremie Frimpong is injured, and Isak struggles to hit full fitness. Add a visible decline in Virgil van Dijk’s form, the unclear role Salah now plays, and the picture becomes obvious — the team is in crisis.
Liverpool seem to be repeating last year’s Manchester City, who spent a whole season fighting themselves while Pep Guardiola searched for answers. The difference is that Guardiola’s status is untouchable — one shaky season doesn’t threaten his throne. Slot, however, doesn't carry the same weight.
And with Salah publicly criticising the coach, Slot’s job may be hanging by a thread. Negative headlines are the last thing Liverpool’s board wants during a season already slipping away.
Salah — A Liverpool Legend Who Deserves Better
Mohamed Salah is more than just a player — he is one of the icons of modern Liverpool. With the Reds, he lifted two Premier League titles and won the Champions League, set multiple club records, and defined an era. A quiet and bitter farewell is not the ending he deserves at Anfield.
Salah expected his contract — valid until summer 2027 — to be the final chapter of his career. He wanted to retire a Liverpool legend. But now things have changed. In the interview, he revealed that the home game against Brighton on December 13 will be a farewell before he leaves for AFCON. What happens afterward, he “does not know”, but the message was clear — the next match may be his last in red.
So where could Salah go next?
At 33, Salah is past his physical peak, making a move within the Premier League unlikely.
However, multiple destinations are on the table:
1.Saudi Arabia
A very realistic scenario. Many stars choose the Saudi Pro League to secure a massive retirement paycheck, and Salah would be one of the biggest names the league could attract. The financial offer would be impossible to ignore.
2.Galatasaray
According to Transfermarkt rumors, Galatasaray are already exploring a move. The Turkish league is known as a comfortable landing spot for ageing stars. Salah would remain a fan favourite, earn a key role, and still play Champions League football — an appealing combination.
3.MLS
Major League Soccer is becoming increasingly attractive to veteran world-class players. Messi, Suárez, Müller and others are still shining in the United States — and Salah could easily join the party. The American market loves big names, and Salah would become an instant face of the league.
Whatever happens next, one thing is certain — Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is now in question more than ever. The Brighton match could mark the end of an era, and millions of fans are waiting to see where the Egyptian King will go next.
