The eternal question.
Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhanney have chosen who they would like to see in their team: Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
Hollywood actors bought the Welsh club, which competes in the fifth division, in early 2021. They have invested heavily in the team, infrastructure, and city. Thanks to their efforts, Wrexham returned to professional football this season with a promotion to League 2. The last time the Welsh played there was in 2008.
With the massive success of the owners and their team, a 2022 video of Reynolds and McElhanney being interviewed by Sports Illustrated has resurfaced online. They were asked to choose who they would sign: Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
The actors agreed that they would both prefer the Argentine striker.
“Messi” - McElhanney said.
When asked why he chose the PSG star, he joked: "I like his size."
Rob said this because he often appears with Reynolds in the same frame, and because of their difference, the American actor is often laughed at.
Reynolds added that he would say the same thing as his friend but simultaneously expressed his displeasure that the Welsh footballer could not be taken.
The Canadian said: "They are both incredible athletes. But I would also take Messi. Gareth Bale is not an option, is it?"
