Ronaldo Responds to Criticism of His Performance at EURO 2024
Portugal and Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo shared his thoughts on the criticism he faced during the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
"Everyone said, 'Oh, he's 39, he's aging.' Do you know why they said that? Because I didn’t score a goal. But what about everything else I did? My past? In the qualifiers, I scored 10 goals. Before Euro 2024, I scored twice in a match against Ireland. Criticism will always be there, but people forget one thing. They say Cristiano didn’t score, but I did," Ronaldo remarked on his YouTube channel in a conversation with Rio Ferdinand.
The footballer also emphasized that he never gave up and had no intention of doing so despite the criticism.
At Euro 2024, Portugal reached the quarterfinals, where they lost to France in a penalty shootout (0-0, 3-5). Ronaldo was considered the worst player of the tournament in terms of finishing.
