Ronaldo Races Into Eternity: Answers "Messi! Messi!" Chants With His 921st Goal
The 39-year-old Portuguese forward is in insane form.
Cristiano’s latest victim was Al Raed, as the 39-year-old striker netted his 921st career goal. And he did it in his signature style — reacting to a pinpoint cross from Marcelo Brozović, staying onside, outpacing defenders, and flicking the ball in with the tip of his boot to put Al Nassr ahead. The match ended in a 2-1 victory for Stefano Pioli’s men, with Ronaldo also turning provider for the winning goal.
This win extended Al Nassr’s unbeaten streak in the Saudi Pro League to five games, closing the gap between Al Hilal and Al Ittihad at the top to just five points — though their rivals have a game in hand. But Ronaldo’s title hopes in Saudi Arabia just got a serious boost, thanks to incoming reinforcements at Al-Nassr.
The club has splashed €90 million on Jhon Durán from Aston Villa, offered an eye-watering €105 million for Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton, and could soon welcome an old friend — Casemiro. With such firepower, Ronaldo might just leave the Persian Gulf with a long-awaited trophy — preferably the AFC Champions League.
And after that? A return to Sporting CP seems more and more likely. Rumors of a contract extension with Al Nassr remain unconfirmed. Still, according to recent reports, Ronaldo is set to stay in Riyadh until the summer of 2026. By his own admission, he’s happy there — though he could do without the constant chants of his greatest rival’s name.
During the Al Raed clash, fans once again chanted “Messi! Messi!”. But this time, Ronaldo responded with Buddhist-like calm, cupping his hand to his ear and walking off the pitch with a smile.
After all, greatness isn't for everyone to recognize. What matters is that Ronaldo himself is thriving — the top scorer in the league with 15 goals, and in 2025 alone, he’s scored five in five games.
