Robbery Worth Half a Million Euros: France's Record Holder Targeted in Los Angeles

Olivier Giroud moved to the City of Angels just six months ago.

Olivier Giroud is a unique footballer. By the age of 38, he had played for eight different clubs, yet left each one as a fan favorite. The secret to his success is remarkably simple: do your job with passion, and even if you don’t make history, you’ll at least remain in the hearts of supporters. However, Giroud has managed to achieve both — after all, he holds the record for most goals scored for the French national team.

That’s why, upon reading the news of his house being robbed, one thing is clear — the criminals were certainly not football fans.

The incident took place in Los Angeles, where Olivier moved from AC Milan in the summer of 2024. The City of Angels had barely recovered from the devastating January wildfires when it was hit by severe storms, causing floods and landslides. It remains unclear whether the break-in at Giroud’s home was connected to yet another natural disaster, but during the previous calamity, a wave of thefts swept across Southern California. The situation in Los Angeles is still far from stable.

According to TMZ, it was Olivier’s wife, Jennifer Giroud, who reported the incident to the police. She was the one who discovered the shattered window in their luxurious villa.

The total value of the stolen items is estimated at around $500,000. The burglars took various pieces of jewelry, including Giroud’s collection of expensive watches.

The robbery occurred in early February, but the information only surfaced in the media two weeks later. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, no arrests have been made yet, as the investigation is still ongoing and evidence is being collected.

Most importantly, Giroud and his family were unharmed, as they were not at home during the break-in.
