Real Madrid Files Complaint Against Refereeing Decisions in Match Against Espanyol
Real Madrid has lodged a complaint regarding the refereeing decisions in their La Liga Matchday 22 fixture against Espanyol.
The Madrid club published an official letter to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on its website. It filed a complaint and demanded the audio recording of conversations between the head referee and the VAR officials.
"What happened at Espanyol's stadium represents the culmination of a completely discredited refereeing system, in which decisions against Real Madrid have reached such a level of manipulation and match-fixing that it can no longer be ignored. These two most serious refereeing decisions again highlight the double standards applied to the officiating of Real Madrid matches," the letter states.
The match ended in a 1-0 victory for Espanyol.
Real Madrid has filed a complaint about two incidents. The first concern was a tackle on Kylian Mbappé, which resulted in an Espanyol player receiving a yellow card without VAR intervention. The second is the disallowed goal by Vinícius Júnior, which, according to the Madrid club, was scored per the rules.
