Premier League Title Preview 2025/2026
Premier League Title Preview 2025/2026

After a flurry of transfer activity over the summer, the Premier League is back. Liverpool and boss Arne Slot will hope to defend the title they won so emphatically last season, but it looks like they won’t have things all their own way this year.

With just days to go until the big kickoff, let’s look at where the 2025/2026 Premier League title could end up.

Will the champions repeat?

When it comes to the outright betting it is Liverpool who are seen as the overwhelming favourites for glory. Despite being viewed as just a side capable of a top four finish last season, Arne Slot adapted to life in the Premier League effortlessly.

His slightly more pragmatic approach combined with the brilliance of both Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk saw the reds run out as comfortable title winners. This year, much more of the same is anticipated.

The arrivals of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike provide real depth and quality, it is also expected that despite Newcastle’s reluctance, Alexander Isak will eventually make the switch from Tyneside to Merseyside.

Despite the loss of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the ability to retain both Salah and van Dijk have to be seen as huge coups. Last year, the Reds flew under the radar and caused an almighty shock, this time around they won’t have that luxury and it will be fascinating to see how Slot and his revamped side handle the pressure.

Can Arsenal finally end their second place hoo-doo?

Over the past three years it’s been a period of frustration for Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta. Having previously been foiled by Pep Guardiola, it was the turn of Liverpool and Arne Slot to consign the Gunners to their third consecutive second place finish.

With another year gone without a major title, the pressure is starting to build on Arteta and his talented squad, and you feel that this is the year that silverware has to be returned. Having been so close to landing a first Premier League title in well over twenty years, the Gunners have been quick to act in the transfer market.

The arrival of Martin Zubimendi should provide another touch of class to an already decent midfield, whilst the Gunners striking woes will now hopefully be a thing of the past, thanks to the signing of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Seen as the missing piece of the puzzle, the signing of the Swedish hitman could be what finally gets the Gunners over the finish line this time around. If Premier League glory evades them yet again, Arteta could have several questions to answer.

City will aim to bounce back

For just the second time in his Manchester City tenure, Pep Guardiola went through an entire season without a trophy and he will be desperate to get City back to where they belong this year.

Last season’s Premier League campaign was hugely underwhelming and they simply had no match for both of Liverpool’s and Arsenal’s consistency. It’s been a summer of upheaval at the Etihad. Club legends Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne have left for pastures new, whilst in their places have been the arrivals of Tijjani Reijndeers and James Trafford.

For the first time in a long time, City have questions to answer heading into a Premier League season. With the likes of Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and of course Guardiola still at the club, they will hope to pass that test with flying colours.

From World Champions to Premier League Champions?

Having gone years without being seen as credible Premier League title challengers, this is the first time in a long time that Chelsea have been seen as viable contenders for glory. If you have a free bet bonus to use, the Blues have to be seen as the value play of the season.

Seemingly considered a lock for a top four finish, the revolving door which has been Chelsea’s transfer policy has continued at pace this summer for the recently crowned club World Champions.

The exciting additions of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Estevao, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro are all expected to help provide Chelsea with that added layer of quality which will hopefully power them to the summit of the Premier League.

Cole Palmer will be back for more as will the likes of Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Reece James. Whilst there are still questions to answer at the goalkeeping positions and at the back, Chelsea should have plenty of firepower that could see them mount a credible title challenge this time around.
