Pepe Named the Reason for Porto's Defeat to Arsenal

Porto's Portuguese defender Pepe shared his opinion on the team's defeat to Arsenal (1:0, pen. 4-2) in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, which led to their elimination from the tournament.

"It's painful to be knocked out like this, but it's part of the game. We caused Arsenal trouble starting from the first leg. Today, they scored with their first shot on target. I have to congratulate my teammates because they did what the coach asked. But there were moments when we could have played better and scored. We played well, but unfortunately, we didn't progress.

We still remember that Arsenal is an excellent team that scores a lot in the Premier League. We came here to show our football and neutralize Edégard so he couldn't play between the lines. We knew what we were doing, but unfortunately, we couldn't score. They were lucky," Pepe said.
