Mourinho has agreed to work with a new club. It took less than a week after his sacking from Roma
Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho has agreed to take charge of the Saudi football club Al-Shabab, as reported by Aawsat.
Mourinho's most recent job was with the Italian team Roma, from which he was sacked on January 16. In the 2021/22 season, the Portuguese led Roma to their first European triumph, winning the Conference League with the team. In the 2022/23 season, under Mourinho's guidance, Roma reached the Europa League final but lost to Sevilla in a penalty shootout.
According to the publication, Mourinho had a video call with Al-Shabab's sports director, Dominico Titone. It is reported that the Saudi Professional League's personnel selection committee has already approved Mourinho's appointment as the head coach of the club. It is expected that Mourinho will arrive in Riyadh in the coming days to finalize the terms of his contract with the team.
Previously, Mourinho has coached English clubs Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham, Real Madrid in Spain, Inter in Italy, and Portuguese teams Porto, Leiria, and Benfica. As a coach, he has won the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League twice each.
