Modrić and Yamal Are Buying Retro Boots from a Young Company — One Pair Costs $11K
Euniqueboots is a company founded by German entrepreneur Paul Richellhoff in 2017, born from his personal experience of reselling football boots on eBay.
Paul once bought a pair of Mercurial Vapor V boots for €80, but they didn’t fit. When he decided to resell them, he discovered that the same pair could go for over €130.
The brand targets both professional players and collectors looking for classic football footwear. Euniqueboots is already working with top names like Lamine Yamal and Luka Modrić.
But how did they pull it off?
The secret lies in the scarcity of the product — unworn boots from older models. Newer boots are often designed with different structures than their predecessors, and some players struggle to adapt, preferring older versions instead. Toni Kroos is a well-known example of this.
However, there are challenges with selling retro boots. Some players simply aren’t allowed to wear older models. According to the founder, “Even players like Vinícius and Valverde would love to wear Nike Vapor 14s, but unfortunately, their contracts forbid it.”
Euniqueboots isn’t a secondhand store
99% of their inventory has never been worn. Football stars pay full price because they can’t publicly promote outside brands due to club sponsorship agreements.
Prices for popular models like old-school Nike Mercurials, Puma Futures, and adidas Predators typically range from €200 to €700 on the official website.
The most expensive model in their online store? A pair of Nike Mercurial FG 1998 R9 boots — priced at over $11,000.
