Mbappe Has Broken Millions of French Hearts
But Kylian's high-profile performance may be another bluff by the world champion.
On February 15, the football world was hit by long-awaited news. French media reported that Kylian Mbappe was finally leaving PSG at the end of the current season. According to L'Equipe, the 2018 world champion met with the president of his current club, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and asked him not to overprice him during the transfer. Also, Kylian stated that further negotiations with the Parisians are meaningless, and he firmly intends to leave.
This could be the end of the story. And wait only for the official transfer to Real Madrid. And everything would have been just like that if it weren't for Mbappe. In simple terms, the star Frenchman has been playing head games with all of European football for almost two years - and primarily with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. Earning millions each time from each episode of this protracted saga.
In the spring of 2022, the Frenchman already announced his departure from PSG. In Madrid, he was immediately offered a record contract under which he was to receive €100 million a year. But as subsequent events showed, this was just a means of pressuring the Parisian leadership to get an increase in his salary. Having achieved his goal, Kylian calmly signed a new agreement with his former club until 2025.
At the same time, the Frenchman continues to regularly fuel interest in his future transfer. Not long ago, he stated that he seriously intended to move to Liverpool - until Jurgen Klopp announced his departure from the club. Against this background, other English clubs have become more active in the battle for the best scorer of the 2022 World Cup - in particular, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Florentino Perez continues to endure the whims of the world football star, still hoping to get Mbappe for the royal club. But even those who are never destined to see Kylian in their colors are already joking about this story.
So this time, Kylian is playing with fire seriously and can outsmart himself. If his next "farewell" to Paris turns out to be a bluff, Perez's patience will almost certainly run out. And then Mbappe's dream of playing for the cream will remain just a dream. The culprit of which will be only him.
