Manchester United's Squad in the 22/23 Season Became the Most Expensive in European Football History

According to UEFA's assessment, the transfer value of Manchester United's players reached €1.42 billion.

As the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) reported, the transfer value of Manchester United's players at the end of the previous season reached a record €1.42 billion. The team managed by Erik ten Hag in the last season included expensive players such as Antony, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Harry Maguire.

It is noted that transfers completed in the previous summer transfer window were not considered - at that time, Danish forward Rasmus Højland, English midfielder Mason Mount, and Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana joined the "Red Devils."

Manchester United surpassed the record set by Real Madrid in the 2019/2020 season - €1.33 billion.

In the 2022/23 season, Manchester City took second place in squad value with €1.286 billion. Chelsea rounded out the top three with €1.084 billion. Real Madrid ranked fourth with €1.031 billion, while PSG came fifth with €938 million.

In the 2022/23 season, Manchester United finished third in the English Premier League standings, won the League Cup, and reached the FA Cup final. In the Europa League, Erik ten Hag's team was eliminated in the quarter-finals, losing to Sevilla. For comparison, Manchester City won the English league championship in the previous season, the UEFA Champions League, and the FA Cup. Sevilla won the Europa League in the 2022/23 season, while West Ham celebrated victory in the Conference League. Sevilla did not reach the top 20 teams with the most expensive squads, while West Ham ranked 17th (€443 million).
