Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has suffered an injury during the AFCON match

The player's agent has provided information on the expected recovery time.

Ramy Abbas, the agent for the Egyptian national team and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, has announced that the player's recovery from the injury will take longer than initially anticipated.

Salah sustained a back muscle strain on January 18 in the group-stage match of the Africa Cup of Nations against Ghana (2-2). It was initially reported that the Egyptian would miss two games in the tournament and return to action.

"Mohammed’s injury is more serious than first thought and he will be out for 21-28 days, and not 2 games. His best chance at participating in the current AFCON is by undergoing intensive rehabilitation in the uk and rejoining the team as soon as he is fit", Abbas wrote on social media.

The Africa Cup of Nations is in Ivory Coast, and the tournament's final is scheduled for February 11.
