Lifetime Imprisonment for Match-Fixing
Former Everton star Li Tie has been sentenced to life imprisonment for bribery and organizing match-fixing.
The 46-year-old Li Tie admitted to giving a bribe of 330,000 pounds sterling to become the coach of the Chinese national team.
He also admitted to organizing match-fixing to get promoted while leading Hebei China Fortune and Wuhan Zall.
"I am very sorry. I should have kept my head down and followed the right path. To achieve good results, I resorted to influencing referees, bribing players and coaches of opponents, sometimes through clubs dealing with other clubs." - said Li Tie on air of one of the TV channels.
