“It Wasn’t About Cheating”: Inside Lamine Yamal and Nicki Nicole’s Sudden Break-Up

In summer 2025 the young Barcelona star, Lamine Yamal, and Argentine singer Nicki Nicole were seen together in a way that made it increasingly clear something more than friendship was going on. By late August, Yamal posted a photo of them together to mark Nicole’s 25th birthday, which publicly confirmed the relationship.

They were photographed together during a weekend away, and Nicole was seen wearing Yamal’s Barcelona jersey at one of his matches — signals both intimate and public.

However, very shortly afterwards rumours began to swirl of a split. The first major clue came when Yamal deleted posts and stories involving Nicole from his social media, which ignited speculation that the relationship had ended — or at least was under strain.

As these rumours mounted, Yamal and Nicole separately issued statements. Yamal told journalist Javier de Hoyos that they were no longer together, and stressed that the split was not due to infidelity: “We are not together anymore, it was not for any infidelity. We have simply parted ways and that’s it.”

Nicole herself confirmed that they had “not been together for a few days now” and pointed out that if someone had been unfaithful, she would be the first to clarify it publicly.

So, what are the reasons that have come out for the split?

• They both insist the breakup was a mutual decision and not triggered by cheating.

• They say the relationship had ended before certain high-profile trips (for example a trip to Milan) that had stoked infidelity rumours. Yamal emphasised that when the Milan trip happened, they “were no longer together at that point.”

• Social-media behaviour (deleting posts, disappearing joint content) suggests one catalyst may have been the increased public attention and scrutiny. It could be that for someone so young and already in the spotlight, things moved faster than expected and they elected to part ways.

• Some media outlets floated other speculative reasons (for example linking Nicole romantically to another player) but these are unsubstantiated and both Yamal and Nicole deny those playing any causal role.

In short: the relationship was visible, brief, and ended with both parties saying it was a mutual decision and not scandal-driven. The main publicly stated reason: the relationship simply didn’t continue — perhaps due to personal priorities, public pressure or timing — rather than due to a dramatic event.
