How Much Does Lewandowski Earn in Barcelona?
At 35, Robert Lewandowski is still in great shape. In half a season, he scored 12 goals in La Liga and ranks in the top 3 in terms of goals and assists (17), trailing only Dovbik and Bellingham.
Moreover, the Polish forward earns handsomely. Forbes even included him among the top highest-paid footballers in the world.
Here's the primary information about Robert's salary.
Lewandowski moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2022. The Catalan club signed a contract with him until June 2026, possibly extending it for another year.
For a new challenge, the Polish footballer agreed to a salary reduction. According to AS, Robert's earnings decreased by 25% after the transfer. In Barcelona, he earns 9 million euros per year net. In comparison, in Bayern, his salary was 24 million euros before taxes, and he received about 12 million euros net.
But that's not all. In Barcelona, the forward also had to accept two unpleasant clauses, which Spanish insider Gerard Romero voiced.
According to the first clause, the club could terminate the agreement with the player at the end of the second season in exchange for financial compensation. Lewandowski has already avoided this fate.
According to the second clause, Robert's salary should decrease by almost 50% from the third year of the contract. So, from 2024 onwards, if the information is correct, the Pole earns only 4.5-5 million euros. Moreover, his earnings will decrease even more if he extends his contract with Barça.
Nevertheless, even under such conditions, surprisingly, they do not prevent the Pole from remaining one of the highest-paid footballers in the world. It's no wonder Forbes included him in their list, placing him 11th.
According to the publication, in 2023, Robert earned 34 million dollars — 24 million on the field (before taxes) and 10 million off the field. Apparently, the forward was able to compensate for the salary loss through successful advertising contracts.
Last year, he signed an agreement with CAA, which now represents his commercial interests. In addition, Robert can boast of 8 active advertising contracts — he currently collaborates with Nike, Spotify, Oanda, and other well-known brands.
Considering the contract conditions this year, whether Robert will remain at this top is a big question. But there is still reason for optimism. According to Sport, at the end of December 2023, the player's agent met with Joan Laporta and agreed to adjust Lewandowski's salary. So, in 2024, it may increase significantly.
