Footballers are the last people you would associate with literature. However, many past and present stars are pretty fond of it.

For example, David Beckham enjoys Harper Lee's best-selling novel "To Kill a Mockingbird." Beckham was so impressed by the book that he named one of his daughters Harper, in honor of the author of the footballer's favorite work.

The tough Joey Barton has shared that he loves the dialogue-based work of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, "The Republic." For context, this book was written in 380 BCE! An extremely unexpected choice for the rugged Barton.

Ben Davies from Tottenham shares an opinion with Wayne Rooney. Both footballers adore J.K. Rowling's first book about the boy who lived, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It's a classic!
