Girona Mourns, Tottenham Stumbles, while Both Manchesters Celebrate Victories. Weekend Roundup

The weekend brought us several bright highlights, but the giants had different outcomes this week.

In the FA Cup, Man United and ManCity delivered decisive matches against top opponents and deservedly advanced to the semifinals. Meanwhile, in the Premier League, there were slip-ups in the battle for the Champions League spots. Tottenham faltered against their London neighbors, but Aston Villa failed to capitalize and dropped points to West Ham (1-1).

The chances of Girona and Juventus for second place started visibly fading away. Barcelona displaced Michel's team from there, while Juventus stumbled against Genoa (0-0) and let Milan slip ahead by 3 points.

There were no changes in the championship race anywhere: Inter, Bayern, PSG, and Real Madrid continue to move towards the title with a comfortable lead.

Two players stood out according to WhoScored and Sofascore:

  • Jamal Musiala, who contributed with 2 goals and 1 assist along with 7 key passes against Darmstadt (5-2);
  • And Kylian Mbappé with a hat-trick and an assist against Montpellier (6-2);
  • Slightly less, but still noteworthy, was Vitinha, who registered 1 goal and 2 assists in the exact match.
