Gavi was diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee

Spain and Barcelona midfielder Gavi has been diagnosed with a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, along with a related lateral meniscus injury, as reported on Barcelona's official website.

On Sunday, the 19-year-old midfielder sustained the injury during a EURO 2024 qualifying tournament match against Georgia (3-1). He started the game but was substituted in the 26th minute after getting injured. In the coming days, the footballer will undergo surgery.

Earlier reports from the media suggested that Gavi's recovery could take anywhere from six months to eight months. Consequently, the midfielder risks missing the remainder of the season, the final stages of the EURO 2024 in Germany, and the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
